Re: Stilo dashboard problem

I'll certainly give that a try although it wasn't the Fiat garage that checked the fuses it was just my local garage....nothing ventured, nothing gained though :)

Dashboard display not working - Stilo 16v Active

Hello. I'm no expert so keep it simple in any replies! In short, the dashboard display on my Stilo 16v Active isn't working ... so no idea how much fuel we've got or how fast we're going!!!! I suspect it's a problem with the fuse but, in the absence of a manual, I don't know which fuse is it ... or even, as I'm guessing, if it's in the bank of fuses that are concealed below and to the right of the steering wheel. Any help would be gratefully received. Ian.

Re: Dashboard display not working - Stilo 16v Active

The whole instrument cluster is completely dead?

There aren't any separate, dedicated fuses for the instrument cluster, it connects directly to the body computer

I'd pull out the instrument cluster and check for any bad connector connections at the rear of it

Fuses F37 and F53 feed the body computer

wiring 2.JPG
which then goes on to feed the instrument cluster so they're worth a look

Here's their location on a 1.6

Re: Dashboard display not working - Stilo 16v Active

Well no there's a lot of other power supply lines to the body computer

F53 does instrument cluster, trip computer and indicators so it's worth a look there if that's all dead. There's isn't much info to go on so it's a bit of a guessing game but i'd expect a few other systems to be down too

Stilo Instrument Panel not working!!!

Hi there, im really struggling as i dont have anyfin on ther no speed fuel gauge or anything!!!. The fuses are fine and my local garage laughed at me and sed most people break cars wen theings like this happen!!! i think it may ba sum sort of loose connection as it comes on for a few minutes occasionally.

I have to fault codes u1600 and u1700 which came up on diagnostics

Please if any one has any idea it doesnt matter how mad it is it will be apprecitated

Matt

Re: Stilo Instrument Panel not working!!!

Well they're both can bus fault codes
U1600 is key immobiliser and
U1700 is a problem with the comms between the engine ecu and the body computer

Have a look in the Stilo Guides for the D4 connector as a starting point. Been through deep water or snow in the last day or two?

Re: Stilo Instrument Panel not working!!!

Yeh im really strugglin with the whole lookin for wires n stuff and earths its rather confusing!!. and nope i dont think so, car wos like it afta i hadnt drove it 4 like 5 days!!!

hi
all of my dash board has stoped working (speedo, rev counter, fuel, temp, trip computer, lights ,etc) i have checked the fuses and they are ok been told its a fuse/relay under the glove box any idear what its called or where i can get one from

cheers rob

usualy is the plug behind dash. on battery the big fuse first from + plug 70A, then F37 andF53 10A under dash( col 3 row4 and col2 row1).

yep checked them spoke to a bloke at fiat and he said it was a fuse or relay under the glove box their is more than one under their not sure witch one it is just need to know witch one it is and if any one knows where i can pick one up from

cheers

spoke to a bloke at fiat and he said it was a fuse or relay under the glove box
Relays are largely for high current situations and there's no high current in dashboard gauges so there's no relays

Take a look - instrument panel is lower middle here
instrument panel wiring.JPG
not a relay in sight.

There's nothing like relays or fuses under the glove box as far as I know
Again, take a look but it might take a while to strip it down to this level to make sure:)

I'd check out these fuses and check the power is actually getting from them to the gauges as it has to go through the body computer M1 so connector G on the Body Computer would be next on the list

This has just happened to mine tonight. We has to reshuffle a few cars on the drive way including mine. I never noticed it at first,i put my lights on and drove forward, it was only when i was reversing did i notice that the clocks were all dead and not lit up!

Re-parked the car and switched the engine off, turned it on again. All that was displayed was 2 warning lights and the clock had frozen at 16:37. Initial reaction was to check the fuses so i did, F37 and F53. Both were removed, inspected and appeared to be in working order.

Next were the fuses near the battery. All were tested with the multi meter and checked out ok. So then my bro came out and decided to check every fuse. From the top left, removed the first fuse, was ok. Next one was F53, he removed it and the dashboard clock went off. Replaced it and it fizzed back into life! Almost as if it was reset. Weirdly enough, i did the same thing 2 mins ago but nothing happened. Anyways, it may have just frozen over.

I've noticed recently during the cold weather, the dashboard clock resets itself every now and then. Its never happened before but its never been this cold before either! :(

Re: Stilo Instrument Panel not working!!!

Matty, any joy with this one as I have just had a similar experience.

Left car for a few days and after starting it up had all warning lamps illuminated and the LCD showing a fixed time of 1510 and nothing else. No trip info on LCD and all dials/guages dead too. Have recycled the battery connections and the instrument panel is now showing absolutely nothing - no warning lamps, no LCD and no dials/gauges.

What was your eventual solution? New instrument panel?

Any other Stilo experts care to venture an opinion - have I missed something more obvious (have checked fuses, but have no idea what relays may be involved).

Mike.

Re: Stilo Instrument Panel not working!!!

Happened to me too last night. After checking the relevant fuses myself, my bro did the same thing. Removed fuse F53 from the fuse box under the steering wheel, the fixed clock time went blank when the fuse was removed and it fizzed on again when the same fuse was replaced. Some kind of reset almost.

Re: Stilo Instrument Panel not working!!!

Having followed the advice above and from another thread on this subject, I'm pleased to say that I've had a bit of success in clearing this fault.

With the battery removed for a bit of a mid-winter tlc and re-charge, I set about checking my earth points and cleaning up the contact areas on all relevant fuses for this system. Upon replacing the battery this morning all systems fired into life, so I now have a fully working instrument cluster again.

I guess it is possible that with the battery removed for a prolonged period, any logic systems may have reset themselves anyway, thus rendering the rest of my exploits as pointless. That said, it's always good to start cleaning up your electricals when you get the chance - especially with a Fiat.

Anyway, better go look at that intermittant ABS warning now...
