Its time for the MOT, so I use the spare key fob to leave with the garage. Car will not start? (I used the spare about 5 months ago when I had the car serviced - worked ok then)

The normal everyday fob works fine, Any pointers to what the problem might be?

Thanks

Key fob batteries are just for the remote central locking and alarms. Engine immobiliser is picked up from scanning the key "chip" like a dog microchip so it sounds like the car doesn't like the spare key code- it's forgotten that that key is also ok for that car. Might have to go to Fiat so they can program in to accept the spare key-take all keys with you

Had the car 2 years ad only used the spare for about 2 weeks after I dropped my remote fob and it stopped working properly. Only reason I sued the spare was because it was shinier :D (car didn't have one when I looked at it, but told them I wouldn't buy it unless they supplied one) I'm just glad my Stilo doesn't have the infamous 'red key' like my old Punto. One more thing to lose...and lose that and it's a real headache.

Remote key fobs are great....until they go bandit. It cost me close to 50 notes having mine 'repaired'. Turns out all they did was clean the contacts and change the battery, thieving JCS (Kegworth) main dealer pirates.

That's right JCS Kegworth if you read this...I just named and shamed you :flip

Same place that tried to charge me 40 odd quid for cleaning and servicing one of my rear calipers. Funnily enough, they did nothing to it. The guy who didn't do it didn't realise we had a mutual friend (my best man at my wedding) who he bragged to about ripping a customer off. Needless to say I paid nothing even before I found this out. I argued that it should be covered by warranty. That was almost 2 years ago, and I've still not paid them a penny, and never will. Tw*ts.
