Took the 3dr JTD on a bit of an adventure yesterday down to Kent. A round trip of about 270 miles. Filled up at my local petrol station and reset the trip meter. Drove a normal fast pace (never went over 100mph) as I had to get back to my complaining missus (coz they do complain) and couldn't believe my eyes when I clicked on to the 'avg consumption' selection.......50.1mpg!!!

That is unbelievable. If diesel wasn't £500,000 per gallon, then I'd run the risk of having an economical car!! ;)

I'm utterly impressed :)

great mpg you got there :p

mpg in the jtd is great (y)

coming home today from work, already done 100 miles on the tank thats in, estimated range from emtpy -

597 miles to start off with (y) i thought.

then it grew to 603 miles as i arrived home (y)(y)

must be the expensive fuel that lasts longer :D

mighty impressive.. will eventually drop onto a diesel... but since not doing long commutes pets still doing ok..

got 41mpg from my 1.6 at a steady 70-75.. which aint bad..

diesels deffo the way to go though..
at fast paced 70-100 will only get about 34mpg :(

Lobster, glad to see you're setting a good example and not being irresponsible :D

Have you got your limiter set at 100 then?

Mine's set on 85. (useful on motorways). On the back roads it's sometimes a case of "BEEP BEEP BEEP - Oh sod that - I'm off!"

:nono: and i thought us young ones supposedly drive fast :p:D

Costs me around 55-58 quid to fill mine up from emptyish. Thou bet it's quid or so more now how much stupid fuel gone up. I don't want to know what v-power is now, looking at how much unleaded is when drive past garages heh :/ got to fill up soon so soon find out pfft.

think it was 1.08 and was 56 litres or so.. was well on the red and even had a blank for the mileage.
Ive just done a fill up on normal as the prices are getting a bit silly.
But I cant seem to get any more than 42mpg despite a full service and the MAF dechoked 2 weeks ago... the cambelt was done too and now im thinking that may have the engine out of kilter a bit.

Im getting really good economy at the moment (y)

Ive calculated that the fuel in at the moment should last me at least until next weeks saturday  (after about 300 miles driving around crimbo shopping) :D

You have to remember that the Multiwagon is alot heavier than out tiny 3dr Stilos. This will obviously account for the discrepancy between our MPG.

42 MPG is still bloody good economy ;)

I agree with Josh. Cold weather does decrease economy as your car will tend to burn richer (ie adding more fuel to the burn) to incease engine temperature. It's a phenomina that has existed since the invention of the choke. Applies to petrol and diesels.
