I have an problem with the clutch operation.

The gearbox was almost impossible to engage yesterday with crunching into reverse. Following the advice here I started to bleed the slave cylinder (metal version), by pressing the clutch, opening the bleed screw until the air stopped coming, tightening and then raising the clutch and repeat until the air stops.

However after getting a few good blasts of air / spray out of the bleed valve nothing is coming out now, and the slave cylinder is not moving at all.

There is plenty of fluid in the reservoir (understand its combined with the brake reservoir)

Clearly I am either not doing this right or there's something else wrong. Can anyone help?

could be that your clutch slave cylinder is blocked or bad, try removing it and blowing air through it or something, if you are switching gears while engine is turned off it goes smoothly probably? you could also try another clutch slave cylinder from scrapyard

thanks, yes changing gears with the engine off is very smooth. was hoping to avoid removing the cylinder if at all possible.

Many thanks for your help so far.

Its now bled and I'm sure there's no air left in the slave cylinder, I ended up connecting the bleed nipple to a jar of brake fluid and bled till no more bubbles can out. The pedal rises on its own again, but no action from the slave cylinder and no resistance on the pedal.

Any idea why there's no pressure in the system. I checked the mat under the pedal, no signs of leakage, and no drips near the master cylinder.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Could be the seal has gone in the master cylinder, meaning the piston is moving but not creating any pressure.

Looks like master cylinder to me too. Is the clutch pedal operation light or heavy. My is quite heavy, I suppose if it is light then yes the seal in the master cylinder is not working. If the seal in the slave cylinder is not working then I would expect you see fluid leaks near the slave cylinder.

Thanks for your input Fixed now. It needed bleeding with a pressurised bleeding tool. Once it was set to 2psi the clutch works perfectly and all gear change problems solved.

Now changes gear very sweetly/
