hello all hope some one can help. i have recently just purchased fiat punto 1.2 16v sporting 2003 when i purchased the car it needed a new exhaust middle part so yesterday i jack the car up on to 4 axle stands and change it all went well so i fort lol i then started the car to make sure it was not blowing but the car would not start just turned over :S so i checked to see if i haven knocked a wire of or some think but all looked OK the i fort it mite been a bad exhaust so i remove the new one and still wont start please help :) the car was running perfect before i jacked it up and change exhaust ?? :bang:

changing an exhaust wont cause a no start situation

Hell - i removed my manifold and it'll still start (but very very loud....)

The fuel cutoff is inside the passenger footwell - left hand side near the door hinges ish behind said carpet

But i dont see how that could have triggered by jacking the car up..... i've jacked a many car up to stupid angles and no issues.....

I suppose if you're banging the exhaust about to remove the old one you could (though unlikely) trigger the cut off.

When I worked In the motor trade, while someone else was driving it was always funny to give the side of the footwell a kick to trip the cut off then watch their face as they thought the car had broken down (only to be used on sales team) most fords have the cut off in the same place as well

Thanks for replys I have checked the cut of switch seem to be all ok ..my key code light comes on and stays on when I turn the car over ?

give it time to let the aerail read the chip . before cranking the engine,

EDIT - IF it's still doing it,
lock + unlock from drivers door, then try again,

no key..?,
have you got the CODE number ( in paperwork)?

I just done what you said varesecrazy but no luck ..I made sure there is fuel definitely getting up to the injecters and the is but I don't seem have a spark could this because the key code staying on ? Also I only got mot with the car and log book no other bits ?

Would the box on top of the inlet manifold looks like a ecu have any think do with this problam because when I have the ingnion on it makes a loud noise like high pitch ? Iv checked all wires and earth's still no luck

the punto immbo cancels out the spark
No sparky - no bangy - no go go

If the key code light is on find out why
A code reader will still work and may tell you something like Key code not recieved for example - then i'd be hunting down the antenna :)

You dont have any other keys on the keyset do you?

I managed to get hold of the other key from who I got the car from but still no luck I'm waiting on a OBD2 reader to turn up to see if that will help ;) just doing my head in lol

getting the 2nd key is a BIG PLUS,

OK - give us a breakdown of what you actually removed while dropping the Exhaust.

battery off, neg. lead
lambda probes - presumably,
