So tomorrow I am going to attempt to change the wiring which is causing my airbag light to be on.

So taking apart the glove box, the two panels at the side of centre console to access ECU.

Now I am wondering, rather than disassembling the multiplug, can I just cut the current wire, and splice the new one in and heatshrink? And then attach the ground wire and put everything back...

Or is it just as easy to disassemble multiplug?

Help, guides and anything else would be appreciated.

Why make things harder for yourself ?

its very easy to get the pins out of the plugs and swap them over, cutting and soldering is more likely to fail, so better to just swap them over

Thanks for the response - that's the video I planned to follow.

How easy is it to disassemble that multiplug to switch the wire over on the ecu... Is it quite self explanatory..

Ive just done the airbag switch fix

My advice
Leace the old plug within the loom
Just attach the modified loom into the old clump and run it upto the switch

Also
Removing the pin is easy with a pocket screwdriver or even a glasses repair kit

Dont try to remove the old cable as 1 of the wires runs up the rhs of the glovebox to somewhere I couldnt see

Ziggy

Andy, so I have disconnected the wires, but i'm confused.

I thought I was replacing a single wire, as it stands the switch has two wires from the passenger side (blue and yellow) and they seem to lead straight to the plug... Do I take both of these wires out, and which one pin should be replaced with the new wire?

I hope i'm making sense lol

I suppose the key question is should i be removing the blue wire from the multiplug too as that seems to lead to the pass airbag switch to meaning Icant remove the old wire completly

All done, turnt out the extra blue wire from the switch never went to the multiplug, went elsewhere...

So I left most of the old wiring in there and installed new one, simples.

The multiplug is quite self explanatory, but for any other people just be gentle with it, dont force the multiplug apart - it should come apart by itself, just have a good look at the plug :)
