theres ared punto near me,seen it the other week with bonnet all bar'd
up didnt think much of it until now, (all adds up now)
its an old ladys car too, most probs had it from new,
we is having trouble with Romanians in the area, all sorts is going missing,
theving scumbags,
We really need to think of someway to make it impossible to remove the ecu
Sorry if a stupid question but just curious, why puntos in particular and what do the thieves do with ecu's?

ive just had a swift sniff round google, its only oldham/shaw/saddleworth
mentioned so far for the thefts,
im also thinking this is motorbike related, (ducati shares same ecu, ithink)
but imight be wrong,
what else wouid they steal them for? weird,

After reading this I'm glad my mk2b has an alarm.... Can't wait to find out why there are doing this though.

This is crazy, cant understand why either.
best way to stop this is a simple alarm on the bonnet, ok they will bar it but as soon as bonnet lifted a little alarm goes off until you disable it
and you can leave on all the time never forget to turn on
can have a switch inside car to turn off when you need to get in there yourself
if anyone is interested i can do a circuit for it parts will cost you about a tenner might save you having car disabled and a lot of expense
this just 8v or 16v too, are they damaging bonnets to get them open?
