So we are competing on the Mongol Rally and are stuck just outside of Almati in Kazakhstan where no-one drives Fiats very much.

The car is not running now at all and it seems that it has an issue with getting consitent amounts of fuel into the injectors.

The latest info we have is that when we unplug the Intake Air Temprature/Pressure Sensor is unplugged the car will Idle, with it plugged in the car will start but the dies almost immediately.

When the accelorator is pressed the car will not rev and sucks in air but seems to be starved of fuel.

We are getting someone around with a diagnostic computer to have a look and tell us what is definately wrong, but getting replacement parts in a timely manner or cheaply may not be possible.

Does anyone have any advice as to what the problem is and if there is a way to hack the system to bypass this problem?

So we have someone here with a diagnostic computer, we will see what the outcome of this is.

Also to not that the fuel system is failing to pressurise now. After starting it and it stopping the fuel release valve does not release any pressure.

The whole problems with it have been getting progressively worse in the last few days leading up to this complete failure.

We initially thought that it was gunk in the system due to it seeming to work better going down hill that up. but this may have been because the fuel was able to gravity feed into the engine easier.

So we have got some error codes back from the diagnosis machine

It says that the air intake temprature and barrometric pressure sensor is failing
Error codes are P0105 and P0110

We are currently getting help to see if we can find this part locally.. but a solution that goes without this may be still required.

Amazing how such a small thing can cause so much problems.

Anyone able to offer any suggestions to my mates over in Kazakhstan?

Hi Guys,

I have had a dig around the webz for ya to see if I could find anything.

A couple of places said your car won't work properly until you clear the error codes which are being reported, people have said they have cleared theirs and it just started working like normal.

Have also read the cause of the two error codes you reported is the MAP sensor which started working after cleaning the contacts, so maybe give that a try.

More info here:

fiatforum.com/stilo/91817-anyone-know-fault.html

This forum looks like it has details on how to clean a MAP sensor:

Hope some of this helps you get back on the road

OMG can't post URL until I have 5 posts, please stick www at the start of those urls

Let me know what happens, I will look for more later tonight.

Cheers for the info John. Just spoke to one of the mechanics at Barbagallos. He'll hopefully make a post soon.

we dont know if they cleared the error codes... and that guy has left with the computer thing. we cleaned the sensor and put it back on, but it still didnt work

Thanks for the update. I've asked John to monitor the thread & sms you when the mechanic posts. I won't be able to check this thread until I'm back at work at 6am, as I've got no net access in my room at camp. Hang in there lads!

Here is what the mechanic emailed to me guys. Hope it helps!
