Hi,
just brought a 55 plate Panda 1.1 Active for my son which he picked himself and paid for!
We were looking at a Peugeot 206 1.4 but it looked lots better on the photos and had seen quite a few. The trader had the Panda which he showed us which we wasn't really looking at them. Anyway, we had a test drive and my son really liked it, its only done 46000 miles, one owner, fsh and 11 months mot
So he's the owner of a Silver Panda! I had the original as my first car in 1983 brand new a Panda Comfort. Ill dig some photos out.
Cheers

My sons Panda Active

We had a 57 plate Active the spitting image of your son's and it was my favourite car.

The unpainted bumpers don't show up the knocks and scraps like painted ones do.

The silver paint doesn't show through the white undercoat when it gets chipped and scratched.

And the flush wheel trims are harder to scuff on the kerb.

The 1.1 motor isn't most peoples favourite engine, but I've loved it since the 80's in an Uno, various Pandas and Cinq's and a mk1 Punto.

It's what Fiat do well, basic car with a small, uncomplicated engine that likes to be flogged!

Cheers, yes i have had a look at the spring cups and im going to tackle those next week if the weather stays good. Its already had an oil filter change and getting new plugs soon event though its had full service a few months ago, but its just peace of mind for him.
Yes it drives nice all but a bit wobbly, but that's down to the profile of the tyres and soft suspension. No rattles or clatter from it wither on the worst roads.
We all went to wales in it the other weekend, four adults, 300 mile round trip on dual carriage ways and motorways and cruised at 70 mph and it returned 49.6 mpg without trying.
Ive ditched the head unit as even i haven't got any tapes left and purchased a Pioneer DEH-X5800BT head unit with bluetooth, lots better for £76 from Argos of all places!
Possibly get the 14" Panda alloys or some 15" steel wheels in the future for it.
Thanks.

the alloys transform the handling.. 14" punto on mine ( 1st car - beware of "modifications" due to insurance)

do check the wishbone bushes aren't perished..that'll make the handling "different"

got a punto CD in mine as it looks "right"

Some years ago I had a Siecento 900. Not fast of course but even flat out on the M6 it was doing well over 50mpg.

Wheels and tyres were it's real issue. I found a set of alloys with good tyres for no more money that new skinny tyres and the car was transformed. Old, hard tyres against decent rubber was a revelation.
