Had a local mechanic fit new shocks and radius arms / wishbones to Panda MJ about 18 months ago .I still get a horrific metallic clunk that would rattle your fillings even going over CERTAIN speed ramps / holes at 25 mph .Yet it gives a reassuring spring back 95% of time .
At the time I was certain mechanic had fitted shocks badly ,front handling was awful and you could see the two top mounts weren't symmetrically fitted .He may even have forgot to fit the bump stop/s .( He took car back and 'fixed ' it) Is it true a shock can be destroyed really quickly by this ? Or could there be a bushing of some description (not in wishbones )gone ? There seems to be one attached to a vertical ' narrow bar '(?) but it looks fairly ok .
Any advice appreciated .Car passed 150k this week and wanna keep it in good shape

150k Miles.Yeah I think the ones I suspect are called drop links . They have a piece of metal like a pencil attached (?) Would they cause such a loud noise ? Really something so horrible you'd avoid it . Not like a normal bushing clunk .

Badly worn drop links will make a noise as they are vital for tensioning the anti-roll bar correctly, also worth changing the track rod ends as these can cause rattling/knocking noises... use OEM parts if possible as a lot of aftermarket suspension parts are inferior.

Handy 'in and out ' job or are they sprung under pressure and require specialist tools / jacking of parts etc ? Dear from Fiat ?Thanks

Both drop links and track rod ends can be replaced in an hour, you'll need a torx drive set (can't remember exactly which size) for the drop links and a pry bar to force the anti-roll bar down enough to re-fit the new links..count the amount of turns it takes to remove the track rod end then screw the new ones on the same amount of turns to keep the tracking correct, I would strongly advise you get the tracking checked/reset after doing the above work as it'll destroy your tyres if its out....as for parts look for Febi parts as these are OEM spec and I've used them for years on many different cars with no issues.
