Hi all

sorry for an immediate post with no introduction but we have just bought a Panda 1.1 on an 04 plate and last night noticed that there are no lights behind the heater controls in the centre of the dash. Is this normal, or is it a problem I should have rectified under warranty.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks
Howard

Hi Howard. An 04 plate car would be out of warranty anyway.

No, it's not normal. If you've just bought it, take it back to the selling garage and tell them you can't find the controls by touch in the dark and want them fixed.

But if it was bought of a trader the sales of good act applies, so it will have some sort of warranty.

I think a little confusion has crept in here. Clearly an 04 plate car is well outside Fiat's original warranty, but if it has just been bought as used from a dealer, they will offer a warranty of their own. Although lightbulbs may not be covered, I'd ask them to fix it (it will only cost £3 for two bulbs and takes just moments to do, so they should do it as a good will gesture)

(If they don't, the fix is well covered in this forum -- do a search for heater control lights and you'll soon find your way here: https://www.fiatforum.com/panda/125798-dashboard-light.html?p=1332196)

Thanks folks, very useful.

Yes, it is covered by the dealers standard 3 month warranty. I rang them this morning and guessing that it might not be as Fiat intended explained the problem. They were very laid back about it and said to book it in and it would be dealt with, no problem. It is very useful to know that it is, indeed, a fault.

Many thanks for your swift reply everyone

Vauxhall done sweet FA when I returned the Stilo day after purchasing it under its 3month warrentee with faulty headlamp adjustment motors.

Warrentee will only cover items it lists when it comes to used car warrentees. Which often isn't alot.

Vauxhall wouldn't cover the heater bulbs on my Dads 2.5 year old Vivaro van. They tried to get out of paying for a suspension top strut mount at 2.5 years & 36,000 miles aswell, even though the warranty is for 100,000 miles, so i'm not at all suprised that they wouldn't do anything with the Stilo! Worst manufacturer we've ever dealt with - considering our other vehicles are Citroen, Renault & Fiat, i think that's quite an achievement (n)

Well the dealer replaced the bulbs without a problem, so all is sorted.

Additionally I took the car for a 400 mile round trip to try it out and it managed 63 mpg! I am impressed, if a little aching :)

My other car is a land rover 110 so we now have quite a contrast
