Hello,

This is my first time on the forum and I hope someone can help me out, excuse my limited knowledge about fiats.

Last year i purchased a 'Fiat Panda Fire 1000' from 1996 for a mere 500 euro. The engine is stock, I wonder what engine is inside. Keep in mind the previous owner has managed to remove the information plate in the bonnet that contains eg. the paint code.

In the manual it says its a 999cc engine from 1996; but nothing more. While doing some cleaning I noticed the rocker/valve cover is from a Lancia, this makes me wonder what other cars share the same engine/parts because I am looking for spares and possibly a second engine if the stock one was to break down.

I've searched the web a few times and only managed to find 3 door Pandas,

I would greatly appreciate any information you happen to come across.

Best regards

Alexander

Hi and welcome!

If the engine is stock then its a 999cc (1 litre hence 1000).

A lot of parts have lancia printed on them because Fiat and lancia are the same company, different brand names is all.

The mk1 and mk2 pandas only came in 3 door, apart from a modified Seat Marbella built by the Emelba coach builder company.

Hope that helps!

Hello & welcome

If you think it's been changed pop a photo up & we'll identify it.

As Cameron said though, Fiat/Lancia is stamped on lots of components.

The 999cc FIRE engine was widely used from 1986. You'll find them in Panda's, Uno's, and Y10's. Shouldn't be any problem getting parts or a spare engine if you want. The FIRE is pretty much indestructible though, and will easily do 200000 miles plus with regular oil changes - some have done 350000 miles we've heard! (y)

Thank you so much Cameron and Palio :worship:

That was all the information that I needed, now I can get down to business

I'm aware that the FIRE's can run for extremely long periods of time, and also it has been driven around the island of Malta, which spans a mere 30 km where no-one really exceeds a top speed of 70km/h.

I am loving this forum already, I'm sure I'll be back soon!

Thanks again,

Alex
