Changed wishbones and drop links, already have poly bushes fitted on roll bar..
I'm getting a knocking noise when going over uneven roads with the passenger wheel.
I've even changed the rear engine mount thinking it was that..top mounts were done about 18 months ago..
I'm totally lost at what's next?
Is it possible that the wushbone is faulty?
Its a trupart make so not cheap.

everything is possible, :)
I was thinking engine / g-box mount too..!!

Charlie

Ive checked the other 2 mounts and there seems to be no movement if I pull and push the engine..

Really think the wishbone is faulty..just can't be anything else and it can be felt in the footwell area..just wish the old wishbones weren't so shagged that I could refit.
I've contacted the seller but he's not particularly interested saying he's never had problems

I just had a new gear box and clutch and my gp is making the same noise! The dodgy mechanics said that I they left a gear box mount at the gear box shop and delayed giving my car back to me ! I reckon they never got it back

What about track rod end ? Or how much play in drive shaft push it in and out shouldn't move

There is a little movement in the driveshafts..but thought there always was.
I really think its the new wishbone, the rubber bush in the aluminium mount doesnt seem to be sitting correctly compare to the other side and the old one. The metal part of the bush looks mighty close to the arm..
Im just hoping, but going to have to shell out £45 on a different arm..my £20 bargain, was a waste of time!

Your probably right I fitted two cheap wishbones on my y reg could never get it tracked properly changed them in the end

Mate, I just had a Lemforder wishbone fitted to mine for the MOT, £66 from Mister Auto. I realise it's 20 quid more than the one you're looking at but that quality at that price has got to be worth considering, I bet you won't have to replace it in 2-3 years! Free postage too.

Did the Lemforder one go on without a problem? I'm just about to buy a pair of those myself. Mister Autos price is better than anyone elses. Strange that one side is £10 more than the other though!

Problem is, the wishbones will cost more than the car!!

Only joking...other half keeps making noises about a new car, so don't want to be spending a fortune

I got it done at the garage when I took it in for an MOT, they'd already given me a heads up about it as I could feel it clunking; they didn't mention anything about it not going on OK and I'm sure they would have done as I've used them for over 15 years.

They fitted a Lemforder on the other side a few years ago and I assume that went on OK too, only cost about an hour's labour. I don't do car mechanics I'm afraid!

I've replaced too many cheap drop links in the past to go cheap on suspension parts, except for the trailing arms which are hideously expensive!

Here goes with tempting fate..........................No problems at all, no advisories on ot on last MOT, seemed as tight as a drum ;)

Well it seems a track rod end was faulty too..after ordering another wishbone i inoticed slight vertical play in the rod end, changed it and the noise has 80% gone...its still not right though.
Im now thinking the supaflex roll bar bushes are shagged after less than 2 years

My Superflex ARB bushes got an advisory on the MOT, after just over 2 years, way way way unimpressed with that!

this is getting on my nerves now!

had a play yesterday and changed the wisbone that i thought was faulty...but still the same!
i just cant pin point the knocking noise! ive pushed and pulled everything and everything seems tight except both driveshafts have play if i push and pull them and make a definate clunking knocking noise...ive always thought that play existed??
surely they couldnt be knackered can they?

I said a while ago driveshaft ? If there good you should be able to move the outer cv joint around and it feels stiffish it should stay up when you let go of it not flop down, just try that the outer cv is not that expensive, good look
