I have a 1997 125td marea estate in the past month when turning on the ignition the car just dies. When i check the fuse box under the bonnet the ignition 40amp fuse has blown this happens without any warning (twice in petrol stations) and in total it has blown 4 times.
the only thing electrical i have changed recently is the front wiper motor dont know if this would effect it but before this the car never blew a fuse.
can anyone help???

sounds to me like you've a short somewhere which is drawing too much current. If the fuse did'nt blow before you changed the wiper motor i would give it a revisit.Disconnect for a while and see if the fuse still blows.
You realise that the wiper motor was the last item you replaced so i would start there. Is the motor from a scrappy?

yeah the motor came out of a scrapped car. do i just remove the front wiper fuse or do i have to disconnect the motor.i seem to remember reading about front wiper motor being wired differently it was on this forum i think

Carn't remember what else the fuse feeds on the car.You could try removing the fuse first. My bet is you've picked up a faulty motor.Did you get a owner handbook when you bought the car this will tell you which fuse it is and what else the fuse feeds.or look in the fuse box cover for wiper simbol.Other than that diconnect the motor(a pain I know)
Let us know how you get on.
cheers
Dave
