General Temp Gauge

General Temp Gauge

Thanks Andy. I'm fairly sure it's all bled. Filled with bleed screw open, closed when flowing out. Tried everything I know re bleeding / burping cooling system so should be fine. Will get dongle for torque and get some data.

Cheers

Yup, got that thanks. One of those halfords adjustable angle ratchet ring spanners makes easy work of that bleed screw ;)

Got it hooked up to Torque tonight......

Coolant temp was31C & air intake at 18C on start up. Allowed to idle for about 10 minutes and coolant temp reached 80C after applying some revs, allowed to idle again and the temp dropped to 72C, no cooling fan coming in. Air intake temp rose to 22C during the time the car was running. Air temp at the time was 5C. Intake pressure was about 100 Kpa.

Does the above sound normal ish and point to a duff new thermostat?

Data for 19 mile drive to work

Coolant start temp 5C
Air intake start temp 2C
Air intake end temp 9C
Coolant max temp 68C (generally sitting 61 - 64C)

Heater not getting very hot, luke warm at best. Fairly sure that my new thermostat is to blame but would appreciate anyone elses opinion before I go get a new one tomorrow.

Replaced thermostat with Mahle model from local motor factor, refilled coolant and all sorted. Heaters roasting, temp gauge rises to, and stays in the middle whilst driving. Coolant temp on live data shows 88 - 92 degrees when driving.

Original 'stat was dying and replacement 'stat was a dud, will be going back tomorrow!

Thanks for the help with this.

Cheers
