Hi everyone, last morning as I was getting out of parking I heard a weird noise coming somewhere from steering wheel column - I can't tell exactly, it's really hard -

It's happening only when steering RIGHT. I can describe it like a small spring loose or something ?

No performance loss- no error nothing wheel very light - city working normal. Also I have a loud click sound when I use RIGHT indicator and steering right :confused::confused:

I might be barking up the wrong tree here but have you had the bonnet open and got someone to turn the wheel for you whilst listening to the top mount? It could be that as it is a common problem on the GP's. I remember steering racks being a problem also someone else may be able to shed a little more light down that avenue.
 
It's coming 100% near steering mechanism etc.

I can hear it only on the last 1/2 right turn (near full lock) of the wheel and only if I turn it fast!

No noise change with city on / off.
Also there is no noise with engine off (no assist)

No errors on steering ecu, normal values etc.

Can anyone else check if there's a similar noise near full locks (right/left) ?

 
C'on guys it's a fast n easy test :(
I really can't remember if I had this noise before.

It's coming inside the column gear (where the torque sensor is). Motor is silent, no performance loss etc.

I would appreciate if you can hear closely when steering right near full lock and report back.
 
Yes the noise goes away but I think it's because the load is minimal.

Also there is no noise with engine off (no assist)
 
Silly question but you have checked the clamp bolt is tight I know on the mk2 punto they always came loose!

You don't have a similar noise near right full lock right? :/

! Is it me or I there is almost the same noise near right full lock ???
 
No that was just me turning the wheel to its full lock

hmm sure ? I can hear it around 0:16 - 0:17 sec

I checked every bolt/cable/mount around there everything looks good. Noise is coming from inside the column. (not near the small motor)

New video to show what I mean by saying that the noise in there only on the last 1/2 right turn.



0:08-0:20 = near right full lock
0:30-0:43 = no noise wheels straight.
0:44-0:49 = near right full lock again and noise is there.

Sounds like small rocks inside there lol.

Sounds like the indicator stalk is catching
 
No but the noise is not there with the engine off (no assist) so I don't think it's the stalk :s
