Hello guys, I have a question regarding shocks and spring for GPS 1.9mjtd.

As I am familiar (or maybe I am wrong) GPS is lower than standard GP.

I was looking to buy KYB shocks and while looking at their catalogue, I have noticed that springs for all 1.9 diesel GP's are the same, shocks also.
1.3 have same shocks front and back and same springs back like 1.9, but different springs front.

So, is GPS really lower and stiffer than GP or not?
And if it is, how that is accomplished?

Yes it is lower (15mm I think?) but that's irrelevant if your lowering it as on the lowering springs all models end up the same height (ignoring weight differences). The 1.9 probably has a different front spring as it is much heavier and requires a stiffer spring to end up sitting at the same height.

As an aside, the 1.9 and t-jet also have a stiffer rear torsion beam for less roll and possibly a rearward shift in handling balance (depending what they've done with the front arb stiffness).

Streets in Serbia are not so good for lowering, so I am still not into that.

I have to change rear shocks and in my search for new ones I have realized that shocks and springs are same for all 1.9D and 1.6D versions.

So, I just want to check that, because I would not like to end up with higher and softer car if Sporting is lower than standard 1.9 and 1.6 GP's.
Time for new springs will maybe come soon also.

I don't know what they did to lower the car (if it is lowered as Sporting) if springs are same.

That's my point, the factory fit springs are different on the sportings (in the UK anyway). It may well be that in your country the sportings do without the lower ride height.

The car is bought in Italy, so at that point it is not due to my country.

But I was looking at Bilstein, Monroe and KYB catalogues online, and they have same shocks and springs for 1.9 and 1.6, there is not Sporting as separate model.

This brings me to opinion that Sporting has same shocks and springs as standard GP's.

Nope, the factory springs are definitely different. The 1.6 was available as a sporting too though.

If the aftermarket springs are the same for sportings and non-sportings then they must either lower the non-sportings or raise the sportings.

I will have to check original part numbers with fiat dealer and I will be sure if there is difference between sporting and regular model.
