Hi all

Im trying to source some new discs and pads all round for my 2009 T Jet and am wanting to make sure I order the right ones.

Anybody know dimensions, part numbers etc for the correct ones?

Cheers!

Off the top of my head the front disks are 287mm. They are the same size as the 1.9 m-jet and bigger than lesser models.

Im looking at some mtec front and rear discs and the website is saying fronts diameter measure 284 mm and rears are 264 mm. Does that sound about right to you mate?

Good man! Am I allowed to post a link to the exact website listing of the ones I want to click on the buy icon to get your approval? I dont want to break the rules or anything like that!

If you are looking at Mtec ones they are ok but not as good quality as EBC etc.

I had drilled discs on the front of mine, they look like standard ventilated discs which Mtec have drilled holes in rather than them being cast with holes like brembo etc.

The holes are also pretty huge compared to higher quality drilled discs and fill up with brake dust quickly and if you dont clean them out all the time it will start to score the discs.

Id go for EBC turbo :)

Ive seen the EBC turbo ones and they do look quality, but are significantly more expensive then the mtec ones and im not an aggressive driver so have decided they are not needed.

I share youre concerns with the drilled aspect, my main concern been as you say, the quality and the strengh lost by drilling holes in them. Im thinking dimpled and grooved to try and keep the strengh intact. Ive sort of made my mind up and am going with mtec dimpled and grooved front and rear discs with mtec silver edition protective coating and pads wise im going for pagid ones as recomended by a friend who has this combination on his octy vrs, all in it comes to 205 quid.

Thanks for all the input guys and feel free to add more if you have it!

I wouldnt worry about strength issues mate, they stood up to hard use no issues.

I had black edition ones, the coating took ages to wear off but it did keep the non friction area looking smart.

You should be ok with dimpled rather than cross drilled and Pagid pads are very good

Sorry to jump in but we're is the best place to buy ebc discs I drive 1.9 mjet

One more question about brakes, opinions wanted actually.

If you put drilled/grooved/dimpled discs of same size as oem on your car, would you inform your insurance?

I called my insurer, think it was Admiral at the time and they were fine with it. They didnt charge any extra as its more uprated parts than a modification as such

Ive just got of the phone to hastings direct (my insurer) and they are fine with it also, they dont class them as a performance enhancing upgrade. Would advise anyone to check with there insurer though just to be on the safe side. I got them to put a note on their system confirming our conversation also.
