Hello

i have recently brought a 1.9 grande punto sporting that has 89,000 miles on the clock but no cam belt change. does anyone know when cam belts on these are needed to be done?
many thanks

Mine's just gone past the 4 years old mark and although it has only 29k miles on the clock I'm getting mine done this week - even though my handbook says five year changes are ok for low mileages. After reading about some of the the horror stories on here I'm not taking any risks.

Bit painful on the wallet at £325 for the whole caboodle (water pump, tensioners, auxilliary belts etc), but rather that than a new engine!

yeah i just got a quote from fiat parts the whole kit is £123 + vat. thats before fitting. was yours the whole kit plus fitting for that price?

For any newcomers reading this who don't know I'd point out that the water pump replacement is critical. Often it is the water pump that fails and takes the cam belt with it.

well to have my engine rebuilt as well as belts, pump, valves, valve lifters looks like 1400 inlcl labour so i would do it if i were you!!!!

that makes sense.. i have noticed since i brought the car (3 weeks ago) that my coolent is dropping slightly so maybe thats a sign!

I took mine to fiat themselves just after i got the car and they charged me £180 and i gota full health check. If you aint sure when it was done then do it anyway, it will cost you even more if it goes!
