Hi,

In this cold weather I've naturally got the heating turned up quite high, but I've noticed that the centre of the car and especially my left knee stay pretty cold.

Upon searcing around I found a large hidden hole (under the heating controls, but above the centre console where the cupholders are) that always blows out cold air.

I hope I've explained the location well enough. You can't see it, but you can poke your fingers in there!

Can anyone tell me if their car also has this hole and whether cold air always comes out (I've got the auto climate control)?

I've taken to blocking it up with my woolly hat for now.

Ditto!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always wondered about that, I thought it was because my dashboard wasn't refitted right when I had a new facia fitted...I shall insert an old sock in there to protect myself! :)

I get the occasional cold gust of air when i go round corners if thats what you mean?

I have the same problem on my 59 1.4 GP. The heater never seems to hear the cabin up to a hot temperature (just enough to take the chill out the air) and the engine temperature seems to be fine.

There also seems to be cold air blowing from the passenger footwell and from around the area described above.

I took mine into the dealer who told me that this was normal and that it is a result of the fan blowing cold air before it gets heated up by the engine!?! He also tested the air coming out of the vents and it was supposidly 50 degrees. Sounds like bull to me......

Any ideas?

ok i found the problem on my car.
plastic cover of pollen filter was not properly sealed.
so cold air was blowing by this cover on upper side. the clip that holds upper side is broken :)
with little bit of improvisation i made new "clip" and some duct tape to be shure that cover wont move :)

Where is the pollen filter? I will check if mine isn't sealed properly. My car is booked in to the dealers but not until the 21st Jan because I need a courtesy car.

In the mean-time, I've found that putting recirculate on stops the cold from coming in.

It is the pollen filter!!!! I took the passenger side panel off and have found the cover for the pollen filter hanging off. The top clip was broken. I suspect this happened when it was serviced recently.

Does anyone know the part number for the pollen filter cover?

Same problem for me! I went to fiat yesterday and ordered the new part. It cost 8.57 inc. VAT. I think the part number is F0055702404. Dont know if that helps at all. It didnt take them long to find it just ask (y)

Ive just checked my pollen filter and it looks like there is nothing there at all, no filter and no cover. It is a 59 1.4 GP. I presume there should be at the very least a cover??
