im getting a noise in 1st and 2nd when revving above 1.5 revs , ita kinda "WA WA WA" its not loud, im not even sure if its always been there ? could be a pump or somthing. any one else got this or have any ideas ? thanks.

Are you sure that it isnt the turbo you can hear....

not getting anything like that all i get is the whistle from the turbo.

I think I know what that is if it's the same as mine...like a whining sorta sound? My car does it aswell when you pull away from the low revs (although you can't really hear it now because of the GSR!)

I think that would be the hydrolic clutch...makes a sorta supercharger noise? sounds mint

Actually I think I know what you mean I sorta get this too. Its like in 1st and 2nd at low ish revs when you are accelerating slowly or staying constant speed, it sort of makes an oscillating(sp?) sound and then if you lift fully it jerks especially in 1st. Its like the clutch isn't round or something and its 'biting' more at some points than at others. Minutely though.

What I found helps is put it some Shell V Power and mine went away, try it see if it helps you. But once you go back to standard fuel its the same as before.

I've recently started getting this noise as well. I had a GPS for 20000 miles and didn't get this noise so am slightly concerned. I think I'm going to get the garage to have a look at it today. It seems to have started happening since my car had the problem when it lost the coolant. Hopefully it's just me worrying but I'll let you know when I get back from the garage.

Ok something is seriously going on here. I also have this problem and the coolant loss problem and need to take it to the dealer to fix a broken pipe or radiator.

I went to the garage and went out for a quick drive with the mechanic. He said there was definately something wrong. Thinks it might be something on the 'drive line'. It's booked in to be looked at on Tuesday so will let you know what they say after that.

Interesting replies. i dont get the noise when in neutral revving. i wonder if its just the normal operating sound of somthing in the motor. in anycase gonna get it looked at just in case. i havent had any coolant problems and i dont thrash my car.
its hard to describe the noise its kinda a whining noise but not loud or high pitched and only audible in first and secound in low to medium rev range in first and 2nd

But yea I don't thrash my car at all and get it all warm before i start pushing a little more and I dont get it in neutral either, so suggest a mechanical issue.

The mechanic was unsure of what it is until they have a proper look at it but suggested it sounded like the start of a bearing going. I've only done 5,000 miles though. My last tank was BP ultimate diesel and made no difference to the noise. When on the test drive the mechanic kept asking me to dip the clutch which stops the noise. It also doesn't make it when idling, only when driving. Will let you know after my visit to the garage.

Yeah its only when in drive (1st n 2nd), neutral is fine. Thanks for letting us know how it goes.

i've noticed i dont get it at all until the car is up to full operating temp. is it the same for you guys ?

Hmm not sure Grande Steve, I'll let you know tonight when I leave. Although that suggests even more that is something to do with the coolant.

And tbh mine doesn't even do it all the time. I am very rarely just crusin at 1500-2500 rpm in 1st or 2nd as I just go into 3rd or keep accelerating upto 3000 ish.

I took mine to the garage last night for them to look at this morning. I think mine was only doing it when it warmed up. I have a sound clip of the noise mine was making, but can't upload it here. Will have to upload it to my webspace later on and see if it's the same noise for you. I'm waiting on a call from the garage to see if they have found the cause.

Just had a call from the garage and excessive noise from the offside drive shaft bearing. They are ordering me one.

How long did they say it will all take? Is thats what causing the noise then?

They said the part should be in next week. They said i'm fine to pick it up and we'll book a time for me to drop it off next week. I'm guessing it is the noise that I keep hearing.
