This vehicle is in warranty and I'm currently in talks with fiat them self's about this issue but just wanted to read people's opinions. The vehicle looses alot of coolant after a short drive. Never will it loose water stationary, I have pressurised the system ato 1.4 bar whilst running hot and never does it loose coolant, only when driven, no leaks, egr heat exchanger checked,no signs of head gasket faliure, new water pump, new rad, any ideas ?

Checked the cap for holding pressure? Coolant will be hotter when driven - diesels run quite cool when idling. Shows same temp on gauge but that is only what is near thermostat, rest of coolant might be quite cool.

Not a lot of information about what your coolant levels are before and after driving your van.

If you are filling to the high level with coolant then driving the van it's normal for it to lose fluid.

On mine I only fill to the low level and when it's driven it rises to the high level and drops back to low level when cold.

If I fill to high mark and drive it it's on the low mark when cold and I would be adding coolant every drive.

If the filling level remark did not sort you out , I think you should look into the possibility of a broken sylinderhead gasket . The symtoms you describe are typical , coolant loss under hard work . I wonder how that will influence the life expectancy of the Particle Filter in the exhaust system ? Good luck !

I know this is a realy old thread but I thought I'd let you know what happend in the end, I decided to take the cylinder head off to have a look, in the process the injectors bolts where seized solid and ended up snapping, and then the injectors themself's would not come out, I tried absolute everything I could and they wouldn't come out.

I then had to force the rocker cover over the injectors using a HUGE bar and a great deal of Man power, obviously damaging the cylinder head and rocker cover, at this point it was cheaper to fit a re con engine, so that's what happend and obviously cured the issue.
