Hi, just purchased a fiat ducato swift Royal motorhome. Managed to get it cheep due to a temperature gauge reading full after a few minutes of running. After changing the thermostat and sender I found the fault was a bad earth to the gauge so I just wired a direct earth to the dash. What temperature should the engine be for the fans to kick in? Does anybody know where the relay is for the fan?? Any help would be great :) thank you

I can't help on the actual temp the fans cut in but I had a fan fault which was fixed by an auto sparky, but trusting no one, I ran my engine for two hours on the drive, before the fans cut in and the gauge was reading about halfway between horizontal and the max point.

I have the water temp gauge problem now, but none of the forum Gurus seem to be giving any answers on this one, at least I've not found one yet, maybe they've yet to have this problem and better still solve it.

The engine should stay around the 90 mark the fan should kick in anytime after that, but they are notoriously unreliable. A lot of people disconnect the automatic switch and add a manual switch to the dash board.

Just looking at this, my 97 2.5 ducato has started to have the fan constantly running after I turn it off so I have to take the plug out of the top of the fan, is this a faulty sensor at the bottom left of the red or is there another sensor too?

My cooling fan kept coming on and would continue to run after parking up so I pulled plug at back on fan and now engine runs at 90oC all day without cooling fan

Is there a chance that it would over heat say in a traffic jam that's why I ask is there another sensor?

You need to keep an eye on temperature if your sitting in traffic on a hot day , but if my temperature was to rise I would just open bonnet and replug in fan, plug is easy to get too
