hi i have an x250 ducato 2012 / 150 - 2.3l engine motorhome.

i want to fit drls, there is a menu item for activating drls, and wiring with empty sockets - how can i tell if those sockets are for drl's - is it just a matter of fitting the lamp units connecting them to the sockets and activating the menu item.

any advice/ help - will be much appreciated

Hi Mate, I have recently fitted DRLs to my 180 Ducato. I purchased them from Ledcom on Ebay for about £55 for the full kit. If your van is Euro 5 as is mine they are simple to fit. Do not be tempted to buy the lights seperatly for about £10 each as you definately need the control box. If you buy from Ledcom you get the control box with the kit. You will need to cut out the round holes in the front bumper where the fog lights usually fit. The fitting instruction are simple. There is a signal wire that goes to the green/black stripe wire of the headlight wiring loom. When you first switch on the ignition the display will tell you that DRLs have been installed. The display will only tell you this one time only. The DRLs will be bright until you switch on your headlights and the DRLs will then dim to approx 50%. Whent you switch off at night the DRLs will stay on for about 20 seconds. I hope this helps.

The menu you refer too is for factory fit, they fit in headlamp where main beam goes (h1 standard bulb, drl bulb h15) page 184 in handbook,

Not sure weather it's something you can just pop in.

I would go with what pasty007 has done, with the aftermarket kit, I've also got the kit just too busy to fit them

I've still got the kit to install, one day it will happen ! :)

There are two types of DRLs from Ledcom. The cheaper are the small round ones that fit into the fog lamp holes on your front bumber. I paid about £55 for these. The latest ones are the 5 led bulbs that fit into each of the front bumper footwells. These were only £129 just before xmas.

If you fit the small round DRLs from Ledcom you must follow THEIR wiring instructions. Ignore any of the Fiat wiring instructions that you may see as these refer only to the Euro 4. On a Euro 5, when wired up correctly, when you first turn on the ignition the dash will tell you automatically (I do not know how) that DRLs have been fitted. You do not have to activate them in the menu. The dash will give you this message one time only. Just make sure that the white signal wire goes to the black/green wire in the headlight wiring loom, so when the headlights are turned on the DRLs will dim by 50%.

I forgot to mention that you must disregard any unused fiat sockets that you may see as the wiring from the DRLs themselves plug into the ledcom control box that comes with the kit. The original fiat wiring that you may see may be for the front fog lights.

I have them too but both had condensation problems.
Hefin at LED.com is very good about it but still it is twice I've had to remove my engine shields to do the job twice. So far the replacements are holding out.
Easy to fit ,good instructions

Two connections in fuse box. One connection to back of headlight wiring loom. One to earth.
