Hi All,

Hope you can advise me, I have a Ducato 1.9 Diesel engine motorhome (Carioca 656), the fuel fitler behind the air filter looks like a canister type with an orange gismo on the bottom with wires coming off it.

Is it feasable to disconnect the gismo wires and use a strap type wrench in place to unscrew this can and change it, (I presume the gismo also unscrews so it can be used on the new filter)

Am I close?

Part number would be great if I am.

Cheers

Ian

Hey Spider

Not sure if you still need help with this? Its best if you unclip the connector which is around six inches away from the water detector (going towards wing) and leave the unit assembled whilst you unscrew the actual fuel filter.

When I did mine recently, I ended up doing a bit of re-wiring as I chose to unscrew the water detector first which caused the wires to get tangled and snapped!!! doh!

Part number of the replacement will really depend upon the make of the filter that you put back on - most motor factors stock them - make sure you ask them for the filter with water detector - normally the more expensive option!

Hope this helps

Hi Duckdriver,

Thanks for the tips, proberbly a daft question but here goes, does the new filter come with a new water sensor, or do I reuse the existingone.

Thanks again mate.

Ian

Once you have the filter removed, you can unscrew the water sensor in order to reinstall it into your new filter.

It all becomes really clear when you have the filter off and in your hand!
