just changed the gearbox oil and found metal shavings on drainplug i took at least 3 ltrs of oil from box so put the same back i thought it was 2.7 of oil.? gears are still ok but suspect the usual .on way out what do you think.

Every gearbox will have metal filings in it, how much are we talking 5mm on the magnet? I wouldn't be concerned about the box being overfilled slighty as long as there are no signs of emulsification which would indicate water ingress.

thanks for reply corkman wasnt to much metal on magnet probably under 5 mill. so might not be as bad as i thought.i had a 5th gear prob before in another van jumping out so i thought here wee go again. i filled gearbox with semi synthetic but after reading some info went and got fully syn. so will drain and fill tomorrow unless its pissin down again.cost a few quid that oil.
