That's it. The end of an era!

Our 2004 Ducato 244 has gone to the motor dismantlers.

Since acquiring her on 14/2/2005, she has been a great van. She had 35199 miles on the clock, and we have proudly driven her to 162,802 miles when the Turbo blew, then the last 9 miles to the dismantlers.

Why didn't we get her repaired? there was simply too much to repair to make it economically viable, bearing in mind that nobody is in our business has time to get their hands mucky!

Faults at time of disposal!

  1. Turbo. £854 repair bill.
  2. Leaking crankshaft oil seals.
  3. OSF Wheel bearing - again
  4. Heater Matrix held together by Radweld. Time consuming fix for a garage.
  5. Unexplained vibration in lower gears 3 weeks prior to Turbo fail. (Turbo Technics told me that this wasn't the turbo.
  6. Syncromesh failed on 3rd,4th and 5th. It's taken me a month to stop Double de-clutching in the new van:eek:
  7. Rotting N/S sill below side loading door.Would have been MOT fail next March!
Despite this and repairs along the way such as a new clutch at 120k, Injector 4 wiring repair at 100k (which Fiat UK paid for!), she's been absolutely great. The Renault Master I now have just doesn't put the smile on your face in the same way as the Fiat!:(

So, after removing Electric mirrors and light clusters for seperate sale, she was unceremoniously put on a JCB fork lift to be taken for dismantiling.

RIP ZFA244000.07353566 Desig Code: 244CPMNCAY. 31.01.2004 - 31.07.2010.

What a Fantastic vehicle - It'll be sorely missed!

Like any Fiat,

Head says another make, heart says Fiat.

As Fiat forum Ducato test pilot, don't worry, I'm not going anywhere!:D

Sorry to see it go, wouldn't fancy a master myself but don't fancy the new ducato much either. How much did the breakers give you for it?

I'd have put a secondhand turbo in it but then I just spent three hours fixing a microcontroller pressure sensor in a washing machine i got for 30 quid so I'm pretty tight :p

£225 +VAT.

I Could have done better but, there you go!

Would have got £300 at auction less sellers fee so "sixpence none the richer" so to speak!

It's more than earnt it's money, so I'm not worried!
