Started my Sei project yesterday. Just a simple clean and degrease of the engine and gearbox and checked for any rust starting to form. Turns out it's a very tidy car!

I also modified my front bumper today to improve cooling as I'm going to be tracking this car.

As the engine is only 31000mile I've decided to keep the original engine and challenge myself to build an 70-80whp 1.1. Don't know if anyone has attempted this before but any help would be great :)
Also what's the best aftermarket ecu to run on these?

Thanks
Josh

I'm guessing it's MPI.

The very best way to go would be to sell the engine, fit a 1.2 (or 1.4) 16v. That should give you the bhp you require without any engine mods (the 1.4s seem to put out 110 - 115 with a decent(ish) exhaust and induction.

Any of the bottom end stuff from Canems, Omex, ECU Master, Microsquirt or (DIY) Megasquirt should be just fine. Or see Honeymonster's thread.

You may find that -- if you have the late MPI "steel box on the wing" ECU -- you can get it remapped.

Getting air in is easy, but for it to be effective it needs a way out. Vents, man, vents!

Thanks fingers99!
I take it the 1.2 16v come with a 6 speed box?
I was going to fit spacers on the windscreen side of the bonnet to allow air to get out but vents didn't even cross my mind!
Also is the 1.2 16v out of a punto sporting?
This isn't going to be the fastest of builds so don't expect updates very often as I want to do it all properly.

This is hands down the best forum I've been on too! Huge props to you guys!

Thanks

I'm I'm from a village outside of Plymouth. Near some very good driving roads for a seicento! Nice and open but winding, just the way I like it.

I think I'll stick with the 5spd then.

Another mod completed too :D

Woo another Seicento forum member close to me in Plymouth, looks good bud, I shall be keeping an eye on this!

I'm gonna keep an eye on this purely because another Devonshire Sei can only be a good thing!

Indeed I agree, I shall be coming though your neck of the woods tonight i'm driving from Plymouth to Western Super-Mare tonight in my seicento...

How much did the boss and wheel set up back? Looks good

Wheel was bought ages ago! It's a OMP Racing GP wheel (330m) and think it cost £70 (super light compared to the sei wheel! Boss kit is an OMP unit and cost £45 :)

Haha the anti gravity is a side effect of the new wheel being so light ;)

Ordered some KODE bonnet spacers (for 200sx, uses an m8 bolt like the sei) to space the windscreen side of the bonnet up to help air escape easily and also some KODE quick release bumper catches to save having to take the wheel and inner arch off every time I want to remove it. Pics will go up when they arrive next week :)

Bonnet spacers fitted, quick release bumper straps fitted (so if I want to take the bumper off I don't have to remove the inner arch) and fitted my drilled bumper :)
