Hi all,

Had my Bravo for a few months now, and since I bought it I get a whistling noise between 65 and 75mph. Anything below or above that and there's no noise.

I travel to work on a 70mph dual carriageway, so it's the worst possible speed to whistle at!

I tried clearing out the vents in front of the windscreen (there was some leaves and mud clogging one up) but it makes no difference.

Anyone got any ideas what it might be? It's a 1.9L diesel 58 reg, just in case that makes a difference.

It's hard to tell - it sounds like it's coming from the middle of the windscreen, but I've no idea where the whistling is starting...

I recognize that whistle from my car as well. I'm not bothered by it mostly though due to playing music or like it is now the car is covered in a light coat of snow and ice in which the noise disappears.
If you can figure out where its coming from before summer Id be a happy camper. (y)

The middle of the windscreen (at the bottom) is where the inlet to the heater is. There is a recirc flap. Maybe that is whistling. A way of checking is to turn on air recirc when you hear the whistle. If it stops, it was the culprit!

Thanks PROV, haven't tried that so I'll turn it on next time it starts singing to me :)

I 've had the same problem.. then I've changed the windshield wipers and no sound at all.

I've had this problem ever since getting my car. Though I find my whistling comes in at nearer 80. It's not the windscreen wipers, I've changed these several times. I think I'll try this re-circulation check too.

Not so much a whistle as the sound made when wind rushes over a taut blade of grass?
Well, this is the sound I get in my doblo and it only occurs within a very narrow speed band (110 - 115mph :D nah, just kidding)

I believe it is the trim above the windscreen on the outside. With just the right amount of air pressure, it pushes the screen in (as the screen is simply held on a bed of sealant, it will flex slightly), allowing the wind which is deflected up the screen to pass over the edge of the trim like a whistle / recorder or similar wind instrument.
As the noise starts, I can push the screen immediately behind the mirror (at the top of the portion with the black shading) and the noise stops, release it & it starts again.
Hope this helps :D

No and no.
It's neither the re-circ flap nor a windscreen trim issue.
What the hell is it??

Right, it's not the recirculation, tried that yesterday and it was much the same. I'll try actually taking the wipers off and doing a short run to see if that does anything, and also give the top of the windscreen a push on the off-chance.

How useful that a car with cruise control, which clearly comes into its own at motorway cruising speeds, makes an annoying noise at motorway cruising speeds.

Nice work Fiat..!

Also my, over 80mph. Its not wipers, i move them but whistling remains. Maybe weather condition, i never notice before yesterday. I always have radio ON, except yesterday :)
Does anyone have a solution

I find this on IT forum :)

Big news regarding the famous hissing at high speed on Bravo! Given that I had already done several tests (taping the front grille, taping the arm mirrors the point you indicated little higher up, dismantling antenna, door seals lubrication, even change wipers!) all to no avail, I brought the car for the umpteenth time in the workshop. Well no question of anything of the things that I tried it, the problem is the bonnet! And 'Just lower the hood latch hook a few mm (you can do it you are only 4 bolts) that the noise is gone and not it is resubmitted! I do not guarantee that it works on all Bravo, but at least on my problem now, after one year and a half of trouble, it is solved.

I will check this

Hi all,

I had the same problem with my Bravo at anything above 100 kmh.
Looking at the car I thought that the shut line between the leading edge of the
bonnet and the top of the bumper looked too wide so I taped it off and went for a drive. The result was the whistle was gone!
When I got back I decided to lower the bonnet latch, screw down the rubber stops that support the bonnet and adjusted the fit of the front bumper by loosening the 4 screws across the top to close the gap even more.
Now all I hear is the normal high speed wind rush ....

I too get the whistle though it's rare I hear it as I don't use motorways. But is something I would love to get fixed. So if I undo these four bolts in the bonnet lock mechanism I can slide it down a few millimetres right? The lip of the bonnet is definitely not flush with the bumper that's for sure.

Also the 4 screws at the top of the bumper (between the lights) can be unscrewed to slide the bumper up slightly as well as I have about 2 mm difference from the edge of one light to the other? Not much I know but as it's my car it's something I have spotted.
