Got totally blown away... i wont be trying that again

I was on a A road, long and straight.. stopped at red lights... a 09 BMW 330d pull up next to me.. i got that feeling the guy wanted a race(y)

i didnt know it was a 330d so i thought what the hell, i'll give it a shot ( 318 might of had a chance ).

The lights went amber and me and him floored it, the bmw went half a cars length ahead till 40mph, when i put it in 3rd i was creeping ahead to about 65(y) when the bmw just disappeared when i put it in 4th then i gave up ( due to speed limit :D ):D.

I think his was a manual because we were yoyoing side by side, im sure if it was a auto it would of just eaten me up.

Saying all this i wasnt humiliated from 0-60 but i didnt know it was a 330d until i saw the back of his car.

As soon as i lost... the remap that i had removed came flashing into my mind and i was saying to myself... im sure i would of done him if i had my 205bhp :)

well i know the early e46 3 series 330d were about 220 bhp, the new 335d is over 300bhp they mega machines lol! i dont think even my remaped one wud come close to be honest.

Those newer 335D is well in the M3 power league, for a Bravo to keep up, you need to install a 2nd engine in the boot to stand any chance! :p

it wasnt a 335d it was a 330d, im sure he was flooring it i could hear his engine roaring lol i guess he wasnt changing gear as quick as me but he still won haha.
If i had my remap still on i reckon it would of put up a bigger fight but then i would of just spun the wheels in 1st and lose time.
Oh and my mate was in the car with me so that didnt help:)

Sorry bud no contest, I have a 330d they are 231bhp standard with 520nm torque and standard they are a very very quick car, my guess is if you were catching him in second his traction control was on and his wheels couldn't get grip. Chipped the 330d is faster than my old E46 M3. You wouldn't have had a chance against him even with yours re-mapped.;)

Yea its was very fast, cant imagine what the 335d is like:eek:

The 330d does 0-60 in around 6.5-6.8 secs, i presume this guys beemer was a manual because it didnt have continuous power..
im not saying the bravo is quicker lol no way but if i had my remap ( which had 205.5bhp and 350 ft lb and threw my mate out of my car:) ) im sure to 60mph i still would of lost but not left totally behind.
What would a 200bhp mjet do to 60mph... 7.5? ive seen astras cdti 150's mapped doing 0-60 in 7ish secs.

Yep, pretty much effortless win...I like the direction signal in the end, very humiliating for the Opel guy... :D

The 335d chipped is a really scarily fast diesel, pound for pound it would hold its own with the new 4.0 V8 M3!
I've chipped quite a few 335/535 and they are probably the fastest diesel once chipped that money can buy. The 335i twin turbo petrol engine is also a monster. It used to be the case that the M3 was by far the class leader in the range but no longer, its looks are superior and probably handing is much better than the the 335 but power wise with the 335 chipped there is little difference. And when you compare the M3 4.0 MPG of around 12-14 and the 335d getting over 30 the smart money buys the 335d, its does more than double the MPG and resale values are much stronger.

lol

fair play for having a go, but even remapped u wouldn't stand a chance. i don't even bother with the 330d's and my punto is quicker than a stock bravo t-jet, a local learnt that the hard way ;). tbh i think i'd even struggle against a new 320d.

i did race a 530d auto once and embarrassed the driver, unfortunately he was my boss at the time

All you guys saying the Bravo doesn't stand a chance even with remapped... did any of you actually driven a 200bhp remapped Bravo?
On paper:
09 330d se has 227bhp (ok, there are more powerful version, but lets work on the 227bhp) weight 1525kgs= 148.85bhp/T
200bhp Bravo weight 1360kgs = 147.05bhp/T
Aren't much in it, isn't it?
In the real world, I had a little play with an old shape 330d (E46) in my remapped Stilo jtd with 175bhp, I gave him a real run for his money, I actually got ahead of him and keep him behind, thanks to the traffic.
And recently, My bravo 150mjet with tuning box keep up with an E46 330ci, infact, he was holding me up from 75 - 115, then starting to pull away slowly, i think you be surprise how quick a remapped jtd/ Mjet can be.

Be that 200bhp at the flywheel or the 175bhp it puts down on the road?

Brake / net / crankshaft horsepower (power delivered directly to and measured at the engine's crankshaft)
minus frictional losses in the transmission (bearings, gears, oil drag, windage, etc.), equals
Shaft horsepower (power delivered to and measured at the output shaft of the transmission, when present in the system)
minus frictional losses in the universal joint/s, differential, wheel bearings, tyre and chain, (if present), equals
Effective, True (thp) or commonly referred to as wheel horsepower (whp)

The whole variants of Brake-Shaft-Effective horsepower being directly proportional to the number of pints consumed, the chest development of the female audience and inversely related to the age of the driver..under 25 = 100 power increase. This equation naturally takes no account of the 'Max Power' sticker glued to the back window.

Go for it Aerton...:p

I believe that, i mean this 330d i had a race with was quicker, not that much as at one point i was creeping ahead, not bad for 150bhp.
For people to say ' you wouldnt stand a chance even with a remap ' well its obvious they havent driven any mjet remapped at over 200bhp with 350 ft lbs:). if the 330d is 227 bhp and weighs 1.5 tons i think a 200+ bhp bravo wouldnt be left in the mist.. im sure of it. The 335d is a different machine altogether though.

3.0 litre six cylinder diesel = 227bhp ..... im sure bmw could of got more BHP.

whats the Alfa Brera's 2.4jtdM bhp? is that six or 5 cylinders?
