Well I will soon be saying goodbye to my Bravo. As some of you will be aware I suffered a motorcycle accident several years ago which heavily damaged both legs. The seats in the bravo have been giving me problems in that they are not supporting my legs and as such I have opted for a car (volvo XC70 sshhh) that offers complete leg support and is a little higher to make getting in and out of easier.
In no way can I knock the Bravo (nor will I), I shall miss it when it's gone (approx 4 weeks to delivery now) and on a value for money basis it takes some beating.
Wheels may be up for sale if anybody is interested.
Thanks for support and I'd like to think that I have been of benefit to some.

All the best
Steve

Hi Steve,

i'm picking up my 57plate Bravo on monday, would it be possible to send me a picture of your wheels and how much you may be looking for them?

I know exactly what you mean. I started doing a lot of motorway mileage in my grande punto and after a month my knees were killing me.

Have since sold this and bought a volvo S40 and the amount of adjustment is phenomenal, and the passenger gets exactly the same level of adjustment.

My knees have very quickly stopped hurting as well.

It's not so much my knees, more thighs and as there is no support for them all support is through my ankle, as I have drop foot this is not really helpful and is getting worse so had no option really. I took 2 volvos for long drives V70 2.0d and XC70 D5 both in SE lux format and both were really comfortable offering complete support for my legs. There are downsides, running and initial costs but this is offset by resale values and the way the bravo has lost money beggars belief. Considering it is 20 months old and cost nearly 17 new to be offered 6k from a fiat dealer was disappointing (got 7500 from volvo:D)

Which one did you go for? I have the 2.0D in mine which is a ford/peugeot unit. Pretty damn quick but not as refined as fiat units.

D5 is a pure volvo engine though, and is favourable to the 2.0D apparently

Support from the Panda and 500 seats is pretty good, as it is from my Doblo, which has front and back tilt and so can provide good under-thigh support.
I can't find a comfortable position in the Bravo either though, and the position of the gearlever is compromised too when the seat is set back.

I just hope Fiat listens to those many people who can't get comfortable in some of its cars before it tries selling them in the States.

I had a bad injury once as well, and car seat comfort, plus ease of access, is paramount.

Good luck with the new car.

For economy it has to be the 2.0d, however it's not available on the XC70 and have taken the D5 route. After driving the v70 with 2.0d i would have anyway as the engine is gutless in such a heavy car. It's fine in the S40, C30 guise giving comparable economy/mpg figures. D5 needs to be updated for refinement but I will have the 185bhp version which was fine for me.

Ulpian, I have spoken to my dealer about it and fiat aren't aware. Probably because people aren't telling them (including myself), they are just selling and moving elsewhere.
A car manufacturer should not need telling that there seats are not comfortable for people with injuries especially when they are linked with motability.

Sorry to hear you're needing to leave the Fiat fold. If the mk2 new Croma was available I'm sure you would have been tempted. Bravo looks with genuine big executive car levels of comfort and support from the seats. A real competitor for the Volvo with a similar 5 pot diesel - but more refined and an extra 20hp ;)

Bravo seats are quite sport-like with minimum thigh support to avoid impact on the use of the pedals.

Hi Steve,

Sorry to see that you are losing your Bravo. All the best with the Volvo. I sold my T5 850 to buy my Bravo, and it broke my heart. I LOVED that car. Still the Bravo's not bad either, but I realise that you have problems with comfort, which in my mind is paramount, as it adds to the driving experience. Thanks for all your help when I was checking out Alloys, and all the advice that you gave me, it was greatly appreciated. Good Luck Mate

Fenton, I'm not so sure! Volvo have come up trumps and car was collected yesterday. Lots of comfort!!! She's not bad on acceleration, quoted figures put her on a par with the bravo 150 mjet when supplied with manual box and for a new car off the forecourt economy is as expected in the 36mpg region. Steady 50 turns 46-68mpg but averaging at 53 dependant on road level. The thing with this car is that on the motorway when I speed up to overtake and then pull into 1st lane and look at the speedo I have slowed to 68mph. I have just read a jeremy clarkson report with the S60R and he has made the same comment:confused:
There is lots of torque also, but it's not a cheap car coming in at twice the cost of a bravo (ouch).
Anyway, thanks all for all your support.
Steve
