How do you get the Media Player to play the music?

I have a Samsung i300 Smartphone with a 3 gb Harddrive built in.

Plugged in the Phone - Media Player pops up on the CD Player.
I can scroll through the songs and the titles coming up on the centre dashboard display, but no sound.

When I go to Now Playing.... it says No Media.

What is the sequence?

How long does it take for Blue&Me to compile the music?

Not got my car yet, should be here soon :D but I also have a question regarding Blue&Me. I have just purchased a creative vision m & plan to subscribe to the Napster To Go service. Will this be compatible with B&M? The Fiat site says it won't work with files covered by music copyright, such as iTunes files. I have asked Napster & they say is shouldn't be a problem as the files will be in the WMA format but i'm still not sure.If it won't work I may as well return the player & get an IPOD. Nice car you got there by the way jetweed (y)

ONCE you are able to display the music on the dash board you should be able to play straight away. I am using a 20gb archos mp3 player and that takes a matter of seconds to read and its 3/4 full. Once you have selected a track to play the name is dispalyed on the dash for a few seconds, then defaults to the trip display. Your hifi head will always display "mediaplayer". If you are getting no sound, I would try using a different cd ripper or re encoding the tracks. I have had a couple of tracks refuse to play on mine, but only a couple (I cannot even remember which ones they are) so could be that b&m does not like the way your tracks have been encoded (there are different ways of making a mp3 file and not all players play all formats even though they are called mp3 (Kind of a lame description but close enough)). Try your phone on someone elses car if you can, to try and eliminate a usb fault, or try a usb key that is know to work on b&m (should be any really).

Hope this helps

Should work if they wma format. WMA is a microsoft developed format, so i would be really surprised if it didnt. Some of my tracks are wma and play faultlessly, but I ripped them myself, not off napster, I cannot see it making much difference though. The b&m is worth using though, the menus are excellent, and easy to use whilst driving.

Thanks for that, they have given me a code for a weeks free trial :D If it doesn't work I won't have lost anything. Can't wait now

I reckon Blue and Me is opening up a can of worms for Fiat dealers most of whom, I suspect, don't employ computer experts. My understanding of Napster (to which I subscribe) is that it uses DRM (Digital Rights Management) i.e. everything is copy protected but licensed to up to three pc's and a couple of mobile devices. ThE B&M handbook says the system will not work with DRM protected files so I for one will be interested to see if yours does actually work.
The compatability lists for phones and stuff are not really conclusive. My Ipod Mini (modded for 8Gb) and my O2 XDA Mini (neither listed) both work fine in case anyone else has them. All my music files are stored as unprotected MP3 files however.

Thats what I wasn't sure about, the DRM & if the handbook says it won't work with DRM protected files it doesn't look like i'm gonna get anywhere (n) Thanks for clearing it up though, now to find the best combination for B&M!

hmmm... I did suspect the music on my phone tbh but on checking it all looks ok.. I'll try fresh music and see what happens.

I have an Apple Ipod Nano (2gb) but my music on that is all AAC's...
Don't understand why Microsoft can't sort out a license for AAC's.... it has done on the Xbox 360!

Thanks for your advice folks... so as soon as you see music title's on th display it should start playing.

Cheers
