Hi guys

I've had my 500C for a week and I still can't get Eco Drive to work. Everytime I plug in the USB I get a 'USB ERROR 10' message on the display.

Can anyone help at all?

Just for the record the USB has nothing on it other than the Eco Drive software.

Steve

I mentioned this in another post earlier tonight - I'm having exactly the same problem!

After a week of trying, have uninstalled and re-installed the software twice. Just once it updated and was ready to go - but now I get the USB error message every time.

I'm leaving it alone for now :bang: and will try again in a few days

Why not go back to the dealer ? When I collected my 500 the salesman went through everything on the car with me to make sure everything including my phone worked.

I had similar problems with the USB Error 10 message but I just tried putting the initial installation files onto a different USB stick for the initial installation on the car and this sorted out the problem.

After that, you can plug in any USB stick and the eco:drive info will be stored onto it.

Hope this helps :)

Is that actually correct? I've got 4 different USB sticks 2 for the wife and 2 for me which is 1 each for music and another for ecodrive and no Ecodrive data has ever been written to the 2 music flash drives.

Also, is your USB stick formatted as FAT or FAT 32? Check this in properties of your USB stick and if not, format it in FAT 32 but beware that you will loose all data so back up prior to this!

Hope this is useful....

Maxi,

Yep, it was correct as I play music via Media Player and the Eco: Drive info is automatically stored onto my USB stick.... then just plug the stick into my laptop and start up Eco: Drive which then takes the info and displays it. As long as you have free space on any USB stick, Eco: Drive will store the info.

Otherwise it would be a pretty flawed system as it would mean that you couldn't play music and have Eco: Drive running simultaneously and if I had to have 2 sticks like you appear to have been doing, I would be extremely disappointed!

See attached (taken from the assets folder where eco:drive was installed on your PC - other languages available if required).

Hmmmm I think there might be some confusion here :) To store data on a flash drive you need to prepare it first. Basically it means that I can have seperate drives for both tasks as I prefer to it seperate. If I wanted to have it all together I could but I don't want to.

Seems slightly wasteful and IMHO a bit pointless but whatever floats your boat.

You asked if I was sure that I was correct, I gave an answer. It is for the purpose of being useful that I posted as your post could be misleading to others looking for info on Eco: Drive and the use of separate or singular USB sticks.

What I'm saying is did you prepare the flash drive with the Ecodrive utility? As far as I know you HAVE to prepare the drive before it will accept ecodrive information.

"data saved over that time will be downloaded to the first USB stick that’s plugged in."

Info taken from the Eco: Drive manual - But this info is irrelevant to you as you prefer to use 2 USB drives but will hopefully be useful to others, particularly as this thread is referring to issues with the Eco: Drive and USB errors and not personal preferences.

Ecodrive explicitly states that the drive must be prepared for use to record your journeys.

Obviously you have an innate need to be right Maxi, and I bow to your obvious expertise in all things Fiat, 500's, Eco: Drive etc....

I am under the impression that you only need to prepare the USB stick to do the initial installation but I am not sure about that and I have no doubt that you will endeavour to find something that proves me wrong about that too.

However, in relation to the vast majority of people who will use Eco: Drive and Media Player, as I do on one stick, I feel that my posts have been relevant and hopefully useful to the original poster.

Good luck to TechHousec in getting Eco: Drive working and enjoy your 500, hopefully with music AND Eco: Drive!!!! :)

You seem to have got the wrong end of the stick. I'm not doing this to win some argument and get points in my mind. Let me explain...

When something is written on a forum it becomes a fact and if someone reading it doesn't get the same behaviour from their car then they're going to go to the dealer and question it. I'm sure you didn't want to mislead anyone did you?

I know you can record data onto a drive which has music on it and never tried to suggest otherwise.

I hope that explains everything.

Hi, found this forum on google, got my new 500 (bossa nova white with red leather also :p, but pure O2) yesterday.
It simply refuses to load the eco:drive application, i tried 4 different USB sticks, formatted with FAT16, FAT32, used a MAC and a windows PC.
No luck at all.
B&M DOES access the stick, plays music from it, and if i play with the install.inf file on the disc and screw it up the error message is then different ... so it seems there is really an issue either with B&M or the latest eco:drive application being incompatible with the fresh car.

Anyone a good idea what to do next ? I'm going to check directly with Fiat and also the shop, but i doubt they can do anything in this situation.
A pity that B&M cannot display its active config.

J.

Do you know how long ago the update was brought out? if it was a month or two ago could have been after my car was built.
It's been out quite a while. Anyway you only need to do the update if you're using the iPod connection doodad or your phone doesn't work.

Yeah i want to buy the ipod/iphone dongle thats why i'm checking, apparently it only works with ver 5.4. i may have to buy it and return it if it doesn't work, thank god for that 7 day distance selling regulation.
