Hey guys...

Is there any way that the system can be updated to accept different phones?

It works fine with some of my old Sony Ericcson phones but not with my current LG Viewty. It connects fine but won't download the phonebook. And when I try to manually send them via Bluetooth it says 'Bluetooth busy'....

Any thoughts?

Thanks guys.

As far as im aware there is no way of updating the kit to work with more phones. Ive tried all of the latest LG handsets with it and the Viewty is one of the best. Im almost certain i managed to upload my phonebook though, i could be wrong however seeing as i change my phone weekly, lol.

Other than the Fiat website I believe there is no definitive list as to what phones are compatible.

Maybe we should start a list

1) Samsung E770
2) MDA Touch

I've got the Viewty (LG990) Rich and it doesn't work. Believe me the Fiat dealer and I have tried everything. You can just about get it to link up to the system with in coming calls working but anything else....forget it.

Maybe we should start a list of phones that don't work too?

I must be getting confused then, like i say i use so many.

Well if anyone needs a phone testing then there is a fairly good chance i can help because i own a phone shop so i can just take one out and try it.

Cool, your shop is not far at all and I may have to pay a visit. Especially if you have more luck than I have with the U990(y)....can you let us know if you do.

There's compatible and fully compatible. Realistically, the Bravo, GP and 500 owners should make a fully detailed lists of phones they have tried, and what works.

Such as:

Nokia N95
Dial from Blue&Me - YES
Reject Incoming Call - YES
Redial - YES
User Defined Ringtone (Kept from Phone) - YES
Network Provider Name - YES
Call Waiting - TBC
Caller ID as per Phonebook - YES
Contacts Download - Individually or all, using "Mark/Unmark" feature on phone
Transfer call back to handset - YES
Muting - YES
SMS Reader - No

Samsung E900
Dial from Blue&Me - YES
Reject Incoming Call - YES
Redial - YES
User Defined Ringtone (Kept from Phone) - NO
Network Provider Name - YES
Call Waiting - TBC
Caller ID as per Phonebook - YES
Contacts Download - Automatically
Transfer call back to handset - YES
Muting - YES
SMS Reader - No

These features were taken from the FIAT website, but if you consider the amount of users we have on this forum, thats a lot of testers with a lot of different phones!

Oh right, where abouts are you then?

Ill dig it out tonight and have a play, im not using it at the moment.

I've just returned a viewty because it wouldn't work and exchanged it for an N95 which works perfectly it seems,as did the N80 before it,john

Yeah...the Viewty definitely doesn't work. Had another go yesterday with a few new ideas. Shame....in fact it's messed up the system even more and the media player's gone crazy.

Is it easy to change a phone then? I like the Viewty alot but would sacrifice for something that actually works

I had a little play and you are right, i must be getting confused with something else. Not even the sync feature works.

The Viewty is a good phone but there are others out there that are better and work with Blue & Me. How long have you had your Viewty?

I've had it for nearly 2 months on a '3' contract.....from phones 4u. It is a shame because I agree its a great phone as all the other functions work very well.

Not sure if I can change it just like that though can I? The Nokia 'N95 black' was an option at the time of purchase but I was bit worried about the short battery life rumours.

Thats a shame, unfortunately you are stuck with it unless they breach contract. It is a good bit of kit tho so not a complete loss.

The N95 8GB is a very good phone, much better than the original N95 and a lot less bugs in the firmware so far. That shouldnt have been available on any network other than Vodafone until the 27th December tho so its strange that they were offering it a few months ago.

Battery life isnt too bad, could be better tho.

Yeah thats right .....come to think of it that was with a different network. If I go back into P4u and complain that the phone isn't right for my needs they'll just laugh at me I guess. What about actually phoning 3 themselves?

If all else fails at least I can get the phone to connect and receive calls. By the way did you manage to get any connection? You mentioned it didn't Sync...does that mean no connection at all:confused:

More than likely mate, i used to work for Phones4U and they are all about the hard sell and once your out the door they dont care. As far as 3 are concerned youve got more chance of plaiting snot than getting anything out of them.

Yea i managed to get it to connect for calls, etc just not to download the contacts. The sync option is normally used to backup data to a PC but people never think of using it with carkits if it fails to download the data itself, sometimes it works, this time it didnt.

Rich

N81 neither, everything but the message reader. But will there be a future fw-update for b&m? I can't believe that my n81 can't read sms while an old Sony Ericsson or even Nokia can read the sms...

This Blue&Me software update or it's non-existence that pisses me off. Here is this nice system with built in auto-update function via GPRS/EDGE/3G/Wifi, but the servers are not up since the introduction of Blue&Me. I’m not even sure if the Blue&Me team is working on any update, testing new phones, adding etc.

Go to the Lancia.com website for an 88 page handbook on Blue&Me & lists of compatible 'phones. Lancia are well known in Italy but won't be back in the UK until late 2008. Lancia are the predominant manufacturer under the "Maserati, Ferrari, Fiat, Alfa Romeo & Lancia" brands..........
