I have brand new 500x 1.4 pop star since may but now i hate it. i think i made a big mistake to change my giulietta. Since first day this 500x gives problems.Dashbord has scratch when it came out the showroom (they took picture) but nothing heard since we got the car,when its warm Squealing brake noise since day one(fiat knows this) told drive few days coz car is new done 7500 miles still making noise,acceleration pedal sometimes stuck when you put foot down,sometimes lacking power,really bad mpg,wind noise from driver side window 65-70mph,worse one seats and door cardborads discolored(they say wear and tear in 3 mons),Touchscreen freeze,sometimes rattle noise from tochscreen but when you push it it stops, touchscreen and led screen shows different instent info,while you driveing clunk noise when you accelerate,under bonnet one rubber(which has strange name) looks like melted,radio has bad reception . long distance seats are not good on pop star but city is ok.For me on auto Steering is so light nearly difficult to cruise on motorway especially windy weather,i'm hearing you are saying put sport mode but in that time it ll spent more petrol.i wish they put vent for rear coz until make the rear cool front is freeze and it mostly comes to arm,and i think they missed to put 12v socket on boot which most car has on these days

Took the car to fiat service and told all problems and they said "WE CHANGED THE RUBBER AND RESET THE RADIO AND THEY DIDNT SEE ANY OTHER PROBLEMS" They gave the car back after 4 days and guess .. and we still have all other problems,still squealing brake noise all cardboard red leather discolored and looks like bubbled.

I have the same car and think it's brilliant! No faults at all. Sounds like you have a bad one?

When I see a list of complaints/issues like this, all strung together with no separation and detail within the separations then whilst I will not doubt the poster/issues it makes it very difficult for others to read, understand, relate to and respectfully appraise.

Seems almost like the poster has a few legitimate issues but is so pissed off every carpet hair out of line is being raised as an issue.

I can respond to most of these as a 500X owner myself but IMHO these need to be thread separated for clarity etc. etc. preferably starting with the most significant issue first.

Most important issue I can see is the accelerator sticking down.
That is a stop driving the car issue. Unless the owner fitted non-approved door mats or similar the dealer needs to pick it on a transporter and get it sorted.

If you can tell me if you have a VP2 or a VP4, ill provide the details to check the firmware version and ill tell you if you have the latest version. There has been a recall for a firmware update

Please can your explain/expand on what VP2 and VP4 mean?

With this 500X we are all learning and until now VP2/VP4 and whatever this means has not been discussed.

VP2 is the small screen version of the Uconnect-system that has onboard sat-nav, this version runs nav sopftware form TomTom. The VP4-system is the large screen version, that runs navigation software from Navteq/here. It also has a Apps button

This is the VP4-system:


To check the firmware level:
1.Turn on the radio and then, after the screen with the Fiat logo and the subsequent disclaimer,
press the physical "Settings" (the gear on the top right) button.
2. Scroll down to System information
3. Check in the system information page for "system version", this must be 15.04.31 or higher, if not there is a firmware update, that the dealer can preform

service said.. it is up to date and latest software. it is not only my problem it start few other 500x too.And MY 500X FULLY CRAP.Brake pedal works only full press. Brakes are grinding and when gets warm they are squeaky and worse part looks like strange noise comes from suspensions or arms.in 5 month car has lots of problem .3 weeks ago they found problem with brakes they said they ordered the parts but still nothing heard.Even fiat uk or fiat italy didn't contact about these problems.

your warranty is with FIAT UK , NOT the dealer

go and try another service centre - as you are obviously NOT getting good service from them

I report and open the case in fiat uk too and they sent special tech and check the car he wrote strange report too. Yes he heard the noise from brakes which is manufacture fault and fiat knows this problem before selling 500x. and he just reset he touchscreen but still problem is there and yesterday 2 dot petrol shows but not mileage range..lots of thing going wrong this car and they just works in here with vin number not testing car proper.just waiting fiat uk answer back they should take this car back because problem not only brakes..Yes you right service is which is in blackburn is crap everyweek staff changing..

Squeaky brakes were a reported TSB issue for the US market. If you have that issue you can take it a dealer to have them remove the extra sealant or replace the pads. This affected the renegade too.

I don't know how they handle this for European market.

All we know it is manufacture fault but,,main problem with fiat service which is on here since first day we report it and they always turn and say nothing wrong.in the end i recorded and put on youtube.after 5 month they said yes they heard the noise (after my video) and they said they ordered the parts 3 weeks ago,still waiting parts but know more problem with brakes makes grind noise and sound like suspension/arm bushes noise and when gets warm still squeaky. But problems not only brakes i have few more problem with this car.only they changed the rubber which was under the bonnet(it has strange name and always they said everything is fine). i report all dealer/fiatuk/fiat italy and waiting monday meeting with dealer manager.I am rejecting this car because i didnt spent around £20k for wasteing my time in service or use courtesy car..

they changed the pads which they called moded pads but it has scrapping noise and when its warm starts squeaking. and car start to idle itself when its warm.. after all these problems dealer offered me 500x 1.6 diesel pop star and it has few free extras and great thing same price what i was paying to petrol one..

Bought the old one with PCP and i wanted to give car straight back but they said they can only get it back if i pay negative equity which is around £4k.And didn't want to pay that much money other option was like to like straight deal and we picked diesel one which built july,drove around 100 miles not single noise, maybe like you said i had bad one.

You need a Vauxhall, Ford or VW if you are wantin a good reliable car

Sounds like you got a good deal with the diesel, so it's moot in your case, but they can't charge you for equity change if you are returning the car because it's not fit for purpose. The worst cause would be a charge per mile driven, but even this is unlikely. I went through rejecting a car (semi Fiat, Dodge Journey now sold in Europe as the Fremont) about a year ago. It took time and effort but Igot the full purchase price back, plus interest, costs and expenses, dispite having driven about 1000 miles.

They said car is not dangerous to drive,just it has few problem because of it has warranty(little silly answer from dealer&fiat),And they said driven 6 mons over 8k miles . i said yes we bought the car for travel but we report the problems since day one.Lots of argument and fake reports,like one mechanic check the car report all issue but he said fiat wasn't happy with the report they sent their tech. ..My question was if the car has no problem what reason they offered me replacement brand new car which they calls like to like.Answer was "we want to see happy customer".we had some major medical problem at that time it stopped us to fighting more.Anyway after bad experience i am not driving 500x i gave to my partner and she is happy with it.
Make is not really matter just car makers must think little more
like vauxhall zafiras burning/vectras going limp mode(i had one)
with Vw&audis had oil pump problem and cost a lot.
Ford maybe focus..
Probably best thing i need to get old classic car less tech less problem

It does not matter if it's dangerous to drive or not, just faulty is enough for rejection. The Journey had a transmission fault, judder when moving off.
The wife has a '08 focus and it's not been without issues. For any make or model yu can get good and bad. One problem with the internet is it's easy to post and find reports on cars, but people are more likely to report issues than a working car.
