Technical Heater flap

I fixed the flap door. I had two mechanic lads helping me - it took about 4 hours to get to the box - somenone has already linked my picture earlier in the thread. Doors off, Aircon drained, dash off, air bags out, gearbox linkage disconnected, steering when disconnected. But we did it. The lads were used to working on cars and knew how to free the little clips etc that held the expensive stuff together. We wished we had taken more pictures when we put it back together, we ended up with about 4 bolts and a fair few screws left over.

Once we got the heater out I couldn't get a replacement part - I ordered one off a yard and it cam smashed to bits. And the bloody door was already broken anyway.

SO I opened the heated box casing - easy. Found the broken door and we managed to dremel a hole in the flap and into the broken lug and we got a tiny bolt to hold it together - with a blob of super glue.

So apart from time and the aircon discharge it actually cost nothing to repair.

It was very stressful but we did it. Well I supervised and the lads did all the unscrewing. We worked in a nice big dry garage and they had all the tool and were confident. You are inside the cabin so nothing is ceased or rusty

I don't know how long it will last - we were off the road for about three months while we were phaffing about - but we only worked for about 16 hours
