Hi there

I've never actually owned a Fiat before and now I've ordered a 500S 1.2 - delivery should be mid September.

I wasn't even considering one then I had a bit of time to kill at work and thought I'd go for a spin and loved it- fast forward a week or so and I dealt ha

I just wondered if there's anything I need to know/any advice needed?

Any advice would be appreciated- thanks

Jim

What colour did you go for & did you add any accessories? I'm collecting my 1.2S this Sunday. I went for footloose blue with climate, parking sensors, fog lights, electric sun roof...

I never thought about the fuel cap- I'll defo have a look to make sure I don't look like a numpty when filling up!

Pretty much the same as you mate except pasodoble red- fogs, climate, electric sunroof, parking sensor, black roof & spoiler- it's also got the "predisposition" for blue & me- I didn't pick that one, the car just happened to have it and was already on their system with everything else I wanted.

ETA- I just thought, mine will have 16" alloys, are they standard on the 500S? I'm struggling to find a chart type of thing showing what's standard. I obviously have a good idea because I know what the car I'm getting has but I'd quite like to have a look over- just to encourage my excitement!

The Mrs has an Audi A3 Sportback 1.4TFSI SE (I work in an Audi showroom-selling) so that's the 'family car' and I'm changing from a 3dr Golf 1.4TSI Match. It dawned on me that in the 2 years of having the car I've never had an adult in the back- therefore why not save money & get something fun

It's a cinch when you get the hang of it. Took my wife a few goes to get it right at first though. It's also badly described in the manual.

To remove

Insert ignition key into cap.

Turn key anti clockwise and leave key on and turn cap anti-clockwise and the cap pulls off.

Cap and key hang on a hook on the back of the filler flap.

To replace

With key still inserted place cap on filler and turn the cap (not the key on it's own) clockwise and it will 'click' a couple of times.

Hold cap steady and turn key clockwise and remove.

Basically you turn the key before you turn the cap, then keep the key in the same position until you have replaced the cap and tightened it, then you turn the key back to where you started.

According to FIAT's car configurator (what a word!) the standard alloys are 15 inch.

16 inch are an option starting at £180

As an Audi salesman did you not get a good deal for an Audi A1?
The Fiat 500 is an excellent car for 2 seats and very cheap to run in knowledgable hands without dealer servicing manipulation. On this site you can find all you need to know about the Fiat 500 so get reading!

How much is climate control on 1.2?

Reason I ask is the TwinAir comes with it as standard.

Climate control in the 1.2 to me would not be an enjoyable experience. Zaps the power like carrying a 30 stone man. In the TwinAir you can't even tell it's on.

Something to seriously consider.

£270 for climate- the one I test drove had it and it's alright for me but defo worth knowing.

I could have got an A1 but I'm just not that keen on them- I did one for my sister and she wanted to change after 18months.

I used to sell Fiats years ago- it was all about the Punto and the odd Stilo then although I used to use a yellow Stilo Abarth a lot and that was pretty fun! I'd part ex the odd Seicento but after looking/driving the 500 I can't get over how much they've come on- goes for all cars really though.
