I`ve just had this problem, brother called me that his Abarth 500`s front indicator had gone, can I change it for him, I said yeah, no problem, pick one up from the motor factors & bring it round (its 5:25 at this point)..
He turns up, its raining, so we stick the nose into the garage... look down & find theres 4 screws holding the bulb cover onto the body of the lamp (they could have had 1 screw at the top with a tongue that slots into the lamp body, but no, lets make it more complicated
), & only 1 screw is accessible... Undo the top headlight bolt, its evident theres more holding it in as it barely moves.. turn the steering, remove the fog/sidelight flap, cant see any more bolts.. Undo the top row of bolts holding the bumper skin on, it barely moves.. Undo the metal slam panel bolts above the headlight, barely any movement.. Undo the radiator expansion tank, the air con pipes are in the way.. Undo the aircon pipe plastic mounts.. Juuuuuuuust about enough room to get the lower 2 screws out after flexing the slam panel & headlight up 1/2".. manage to get the cover out, pull out the indicator bulb.. To find.. Its a bulb I`ve never seen before.. And the motor factor had given him a T20 bulb.. And its now 6:15..
We called round, nothing, looked on Ebay, nothing within 20 miles (apparently these bulbs are also fitted to Audi R8 & some BMWs as well).. Call local Audi, VW & BMW dealers, all parts departments shut..
So, its all had to go back & he`s had to cancel this evenings 2 hour lesson & tomorrow mornings lessons (he`s a driving instructor), costing him a fair amount of dosh & inconveniencing his pupils..
I`m not impressed..
