Hello,
I am new to the site. I have had my sport since Sept 2009, lovin' it. Can this car be remapped? Of course this may have been asked before. Sorry in advance if I have passed a previous thread,
cheers J:)

The sport is a trim level but yes, you can remap it. What engine have you got? I've got the 1.4 and this was the result of a mapping and induction kit being fitted:

then yes it can be remapped

don't expect huge gains though and you are probabaly better off getting a performance exhaust system and free flow air filter/induction kit

bear in mind that if the fiat dealer re-flashes the software as part of a service update it will over-write the re-map

My take on remapping non turbo cars is that you can change the driving characteristic, pick up throttle response etc but you cant get that much more power. As you already have a sports button that does this why bother.

Turbo engines are a completely different thing and you can get +25% more power torque etc from a simple remap

Spend the money somewhere else

As you already have a sports button that does this why bother.

Because the sports button does nothing at all except make it twitchy and horrible to drive in traffic by messing with how quickly the throttle responds. The remap can make the torque curve flatter and and come in at a point where it's more keenly felt.

The sport button is NOT a remap. It changes the way that the throttle responds, but it doesn't give any extra power

I didnt say it was a remap and I did say "that you can change the driving characteristic, pick up throttle response etc but you cant get that much more power. As you already have a sports button that does this why bother"

WTF?

The OP asked if they could get their car remapped and you said it was pointless because they've got a sport button (they might not have one!) which infers that there's nothing to be gained from a remap which is untrue.

I said my take on a remap was it didnt give u anymore power with a N/A car and that it only changed the driving characteristic and that you had a button that did that anyway - so whats the point in a remap

The OP also said he did have a 1.4 later on in the tread which I read but you didnt and was why I made the link with sport button and driving characteristics.

Do we need to go through this again?

Jason had his car remapped, the remap gave him more power therefore a remap on an n/a car will give you more power. THE SPORT BUTTON DOES NOT GIVE YOU ANYMORE POWER

lol 306maxi !

THE SPORT BUTTON DOES NOT GIVE YOU ANYMORE POWER - I know and no one said it did in this thread but thanks for pointing it in such large font :bang:

A Remap on a N/A car doesnt give you that much more power either looks to be about 10% hardly worth the money in itself.
What a remap does give is a better driving characteristic, trottle response etc which may be worth the cash - however the sport button also changes the driving characteristic and is free with the 1.4

anyway have a ncie week end im off (y)

What i said in my orignal post was this

please stop trolling
You also said in the your original post that the sport button remaps the car. But whatever, tell people the wrong thing..... I don't care

Because what you state is completely wrong. And I say this with absolute certainty because a) I have a 500 with a sport button and b) I've had it remapped after being disappointed with the jerky pointlessness of the sport button.

The sport button sharpens throttle response. This means that when you touch the accelerator pedal it responds in a sharp spiky way. This is completely different from the change in the torque delivery you get from a remap. Completely different. A remap will make the delivery smoother and adjust the way the engine delivers the torque.

To the original poster, if you're anywhere near London PM me and I'll let you have a spin in my 500. You can judge for yourself by back to back driving yours with and without the sport button and mine with the remap. That's an offer that not a lot of tuning places will make you. ;)

Oh don't bother Jason, he'll come back saying "I didn't say that, look at what I said" which directly contradicts something he said earlier or later. He should be a politician. Real experiences and facts count for nothing here.
