A Newbe with a question about the fuel tank?

How much fuel can you put in it when it comes to filling up time?

The most I have ever managed is just shy of 32 litres and that was after driving 40 miles when I hit the 30 miles left limit. I drive 500 miles a week so filling up is quite a regular thing.

So how much on average does your tank take?

Binkie :)

It should say in your user manual how much fuel the tank will hold, and it's reserve. I think its probably 35-40L.

Jon.
are you joking 35-40l of reserve so when it say you have no juice left you have 40l witch is say £40 so that at say 40mpg that about 280 miles and the car is saying you need to go and fill up that cant be right:confused::confused:

No I'm not a rabbit, it's my nickname and i've had it for about 25 years.

Yes i know what the manual says the tank should hold, but my car seems to take less than what the maunal says so that's why i'm asking the question!

If the tank takes 35 ltrs and have a 5 ltr reserve then when the fuel light comes on it should take 30 ltrs to fill up????? right? Well i'm not, not even close to.

So how many ltrs on average do you buy when filling up?

I take it no one has yet posted how much is still in the tank when the light comes on ? The only thing I know is that its a 35L tank.

I would like to know how far I can travel when
A) the fuel light comes on ie how many L left
B) after the range starts to read Omiles

Obviously both are mpg dependant but the volumes between the cars should be constant.

Im sure I could find out myself but better to learn from other people running out of juice. :D

Five Litres I think (30L main/5 L Reserve

Let us know when you have run out:)

I`ve always believed in not letting the red light come on ,in fact in my current Bravo it never has !!:)
My mechanic friend said once it gets down to the last couple of litres the fuel pump has to work harder and any dirt particles in the bottom of the tank get dragged through :(

Not really. The fuel is sucked from the same place whether is a full of empty tank. The problem happens if it is really empty and when you fill up, the gush of fuel sturs up the dirt. But by the time you've paid, its normally settled down enough not to muck things up.

Jon.
