OK, so now show us yours!

Hi All!

OK - so Ben has kindly given us this spangly new section all to our selves!

So, here's ours, now show us yours!

1972 Fiat 500 L
650cc 126 engine
LHD
123 Electronic Ignition

Oh and the name?

Well, we decided a car with such character had to have a name, but couldn't think of one.

So, our neighbour's four year old son looked at it thoughtfully, and said "I think it should be named Daisy"

and it kind of stuck.........

Snap! (well, almost)

1969 500 Bambina (New Zealand model)
499cc engine and crash gearbox
Repainted Ferrari Rosso Corsa

She's called Dinky - previous owner chose it and it's stuck

She has the front panel and nudge bar of a 500L, I assume they were originally 500F items and someone has changed them at some point.

WOW a 500 designated area !!!!!

Heres mine, its a '73 500R, lowered with uprated shocks, bucket seats, alloys, abarth sump and rocker cover, 595cc engine (origionally factory fitted - none of your 126 tosh!! ) bigger carb fitted, sports exhaust, and am currently eyeing up some forged goodies for the engine internals. Iv'e also converted it to run on cadbury's chocolate animals.

Wow, looks quite a beast!

What is that engine?

What kind of performance would you expect from it?

The engine is a Fiat Fire as found in Punto's etc. This one has been bored out to 1284cc using the latest 1368 pistons, head skimmed and block decked for high compression, GSR fast road cam, lightened and balanced bottom end, GSR gas flowed big valve head with lightened valve train.

We are expecting a power figure over 100bhp but its the first time that this particular configuration has been tried so fingers crossed that it works at all!

With the lightly tuned 1108 fitted it would cruise at 80 and do well over 100mph if you were brave enough. Only problem is that at high speed you can't stop thinking that you are sitting inside the crumple zone, so a cage is on the cards.

Its still using the stock non-syncro 500R box with a BIS crownwheel and pinion. So far its held together but I'm not sure how long it will last with the new engine. I have converted to stronger driveshafts stub axles conversion on the gearbox side with tripod joint and short thick driveshaft to tripod joint conversion replacing the rubber joints, which break after 1000 odd miles.

The wheels are still quite skinny so spin up easily which probably have saved the box, and I don't do 'drag racing starts'. I have a early Renault 5 Gordini gearbox that I may fit (early 5's had the gearbox mounted in front of the engine like a 500, but at the front of the car)

Re: OK, so now show us yours!

Hey guys nice work. Thats Impressive, im kinda embarrased to show mine LOL.

Anyways it has a pretty interesting history. A United States soldier was stationed in Sicily after WWII. He purchased this fiat 500L then when he returned Home to Virginia he traded it at his local car dealer for a vette. She has 12,000 documented Original miles!!! I found her on ebay about a year ago, and drove 10hours to pick her up, and 10hrs back!

now shes having some problems starting possible from starting her up with a jump starter which probably fried the ignition coil.

Meet Cip e' Ciop

Chippy is a 1966 F. Un-modified except for front disc brakes and a discrete iPod setup (two essential mods). The car was known as Luigi by its previous owner who had it restored and shipped from Italy (named years before the movie).

My wife grew up in Rome and her parents had two 500s as their family cars. Cip e' Ciop were fun nicknames that my wife and her brother gave to their parents when they were kids. So, when my wife bought Luigi last year he also became known as Cip-Ciop

I wish I had known about the 500 when I was in High School. The cinquino is a chick magnet! Instead I drove one of these. . . (ever seen one? )
Fun car but this is the only girl I could get to pose with it.

Re: OK, so now show us yours!

Yeah, i no. It probably still is, from what the fiat 500 looks like, whoever he is, took really really really good care for his cars.

the only problem that i had with it was that he cut this huge whole in the dashboard directly infront of where the front passenger sits, im guessing for a radio, so when i bought it i had this gigantic whole in my cars dash.

so i found the biggest radio they sell which is an indash dvd player/radio. and it fits like a glove.

ill post some pics as soon as i get them.
