Hi there. my name is Carlos form Durban South Africa. I have just purchased a 1995 uno 1100 which worked perfectly until now. Did a minor service on it and now she does not even choke properly. Initially i would need to pull the choked to get her warmed up but now she just starts on the turn. Problem is that after the she's warmed up and on the road, she just cuts off:cry: which is just the :bang: when in the middle of traffic. I have put in a new Ignition coil, new petrol filter, service the carb and put in a new carb kit. When i put a screwdriver into there into the coil wire to the ignition coil, it gives one large spark and then nothing. i also installed an anti hijack onto it and i still can't find the problem.:worship: please help getting despirate

Hi Carlos
Welcome to the forum.
Sounds like your vacum advance is gone.
It is the disc object attached to the distributor.
Take off the pipe from the carb end and blow into it if there is no resistance it is gone easy and cheap to replace.
Plenty of threads on this issue.
Pete

done all that yesterday. still cuts outs. power to the starter coil is cutting out. :bang: still can't get this right. the alarm is not working properly either so i suspect the immobilizer could be heating up and cutting out. cause when i dimantle the overide switches it still starts without ignition lights. then the alarm goes off a minute later instead of the anti hijack.
any more answers please.

Hm...
Alarm units with unknown installation history can be real pain. I had one that was cutting the ignition off when I used a horn :( . Its removal was a nitemare, after I just cut all wires leading to it, my high-beam quit working

Otherwise, ignition module (black matchbox-sized part located on the distributor with cooling fins and 2-wires - red and green) would be my suspect. It may be that it starts working haphazardly when heated up. As this is a compact semiconductor part, the only method of repair AFAIK is to change it for another one.
Cleaning it from the outside will not hurt anything, it may be oily and therefore not cooling properly.

Is your 1.1 carburettor or SPI?

it is a carburetor....got the alarm company to disconnect the alarm and check the wiring. so i will update you tommorrow. will also check the black box today:slayer: i shall make it work...... eventually

OKAY  still no joy...the alarm is still(n) and the car still cuts out when at normal temp. anothe friend has said that because the piston rings may be gone, that the engine gets too much compression and cuts off, well my car does'nt smoke very much cause the timeing is set perfectly, but the engine does sound a bit rough when she reaches normal temp. will try changing the black box and cleaning the destributor. until then see ya on monday...will read the rest of the threads posted later today.

thanx guys you really have helped me.....will let all other uno owners check out this site very helpful.(y)
persistence :slayer: pyas off in the mean time:bang:

HA! HA?:) THERE IS LIFE IN THE IN THE ENGINE(y) AND SHE PURRRS LIKE A KITTEN. THANKS GUYS. NO MORE CUT-OFFS. SHE RUNS BEAUTIFULLY.
I HAVE RESET THE TIMING AND EVERYTHING. IT WAS THE CELENOID & THE STARTER COIL. ONE QUESTION THOUGH. COULD THE ALARM HAVE CAUSED THESE COMPONENTS TO BURN OUT. IT IS A LEVEL TWO ALARM THAT GOES HAYWIRE.
I DID CLEAN THE DESTRIBUTOR OUT THOUGH. IT HAD A LOT OF DIRT IN IT
THANKS A MILLION.
