Can some one plz help me with the wiring on the ignition module

Hmm...
I replaced whole unit recently. Not sure about wiring, haven't thought of that.

perhaps more info (pic ideally) would help.

Two small plugs connect to the finned box on the side of the distributor:
- 2-pin, blue and black wires (sometimes brown wires), pickup coil inside the distributor. Check these wires are not frayed.
- 3-pin, red, green, and black wires. Black wire should be attached to distributor body (ground). Red wire goes to coil + terminal, green wire to coil - terminal.

Hi everyone,

Had a misfire on my Fiat Uno 1.1 recently (pretty much from cold start but more noticeable when engine is warm) so have been checking the usual culprits such as spark plugs, HT leads, distributor cap and ignition module.

I found one of the HT leads appears to have overheated at some point as the metal cap where it meets the plug has disintegrated (same one as a few years ago). I substituted an old HT lead (not always a good idea as could be faulty, just don't want to fork out for a complete set of new leads if not needed! (n)), but no difference and spark plugs all look OK as does dizzy cap.

Onto the ignition module....removed it making a note of the wiring as per Alex's post below. The earth lead to the distributor was very frayed so replaced and then reassembled but hit a snag of my own making. :bang:

Does anyone know on the wiring plug connectors which way round (ie flat side or stepped side) they are inserted into the module (directly underneath the fins) when it is in its correct position? The flat side has some markings including earth symbol - not sure if these are normally hidden or visible. This might seem a bit obvious but if I get it wrong I could do some damage.... (am OK for the left and right placement of 3 pin and 2 pin connectors themselves).

Cheers,

Andy

I'm fairly sure the flat side goes against the housing and the stepped side (of the plugs) is on the finned side of the module. I think you'll find it will only fit back onto the housing that way around. If the earth pin is marked on the module, you can expect it to line up with the black wire (black is usually earth/ground).
