While researching the Uno-based estate/van for another thread, I stumbled across mention of the FIAT Premio - yet another Uno-based machine from South America...!

A Google Image Search for 'FIAT Premio' turns up loads of results for a car I never knew existed in two-door form:

The Premio also seems to exist in four-door form (I don't know what the difference is between a four-door Premio and a Duna...) - how about this tastefully-modified example

Maybe add your own favourite Premio pics to this thread... or if anyone actually HAS a Premio, let us know! ;)

Wow, that last car sure is a classy example of an impovershed ghetto boy with wide eyed ideas.

:D

Nice car. More pics of insides are needed.

I'd also suggest to the Admins they add a new forum ;)

Is it me or is that a very similar body to the Regatta ?

I thought that too. It also has hints of the original Croma, which considering all three cars were from the 80's Fiat lineup shows the common corporate styling Fiat were aiming for.

I think the 5 door Premio looks rather stylish, or at least it would if that garish bodykit was removed :yuck:

If Fiat were to bring the Uno back in its original form I'd buy one (y)

i like the dash.........looks a little old school bmw, slightly wrapped round the driver

I also notice that the centre console, or at least the lower half, has virtually the same layout as the mk1 Uno minus the stereo slot! It even has the same heater control layout and twin fresh air vents with the 'wheel' in the middle to open and close them.

I still prefer the idiosyncratic mk1 dashboard though with its easy to read instruments and nutty switch pods lit up with fibre optics  ;)

Back in 98 I had a holiday in Turkey, there were an awful lot of what appeared to be Turkish made 'Regatta' estates being used as Taxis.

For the way they were treated they appeared to be bombproof, the drivers thought nothing of picking up 8 happy (read that as half cut) holidaymakers for the trip back to the hotel  (although 1 did have a failure of the rear axle - I wonder why :chin: )

The rear lights & bootlid of the 1st one reminds me more of the Lancia Thema than the Croma, although the 4 door looks nicer than the 2 door to me, the rear wing looks too big, flat & budget on the 2 door, although the 2 tone side stripe on the crappy modified one does help break it up a bit.

I dont like the dash either, but I do want his leather seats!

The dash would probably bolt into an Uno :chin:
As Jai says, I think it is far more upmarket than the Uno's effort :)

The Regata was a Strada saloon and therefore bigger than the Uno platform.

The Premio does look like a rather fun pastiche of a Thema, but when you look at the real Thema, you realise how size lends elegance to a design...

This looks like a 131 styled like a Regata to me.

Note the location of the petrol cap, the door handles & the shape of the screen & scuttle panel...

Quite why they didnt just use the Regata to start with is anyones guess! maybe, like me, they prefer RWD cars, although I think the 131 looks a million times better than the Regata so I`d have just left it as it was...

Maybe its nicer than the Mk1 dash, but it looks dated compared to the simple clutter free Mk2 one. I`d guess its creakier than the Mk2 dash too :p

I still prefer the Elba Weekend out of all the non-UK Uno`s...
