I am having a problem with my 1989 999cc Uno. It all started when I had to take out the heater core to change the fan as it had stopped working. I had to drain the system but when I refilled it the car started to run a little hotter. I placed a post on this site and someone got back to me on how to bleed the system as there was no bleed screw at the heater core. I thought this would sort things out but no. I next replaced the thermostat as the old one was stuck slightly open. I thought this was the problem but that made things worse. I drove it after I changed the stat and the temperature just continued to rise and settled just below where the fan cuts in. I open the bonnet when I got home and there were a few drops of coolant below the expansion tank cap as if was coming out through the cap.
Does anyone know what the problem could be. The only thing left to change is the water pump but surely that has to be working. I have checked the system with the radiator cap off and I know when the thermostat opens as I see the coolant coming in through the top hose of the radiator so the pump must be working. If anyone has any advise I would appreciate it.

Gerry.

Hey man, you'll need to flush the system, clan the entire engine water system and fill it up again, then make sure to bleed it proparly
