Hello,

My 2005 Fiat Ulysse has one final fault to fix before it's all okay - and that's the air blower for the heating not working.

When I first start the car, the rear blowers work fine and I can turn them up and down, but there is nothing from the front and after a few seconds, even the rear ones give up.

It's the full climate control and to date I have checked that the control unit is all connected and all the controls and LCD appear to work fine and I have also checked that both rear blowers are connected fine (by taking them covers of and having a good poke about).

I am guessing the main blower is dead but I am stumped as to it's location and why it being dead stops the rear ones going.

I would really really appreciate any guidance :)

Dave

Getting to the main blower is fairly easy on the RHD Ulysse. Access to the blower motor requires the removal of the passenger glove box.The procedure is as follows:
1. Detach the front section of the passenger door seal.
2. Unclip the closer panel which houses the passenger air bag disarming switch.
3. Disconnect the disarming switch.
4 Unclip the right windscreen pillar trim.
5. Remove (5) fastener screws, (3) on the top front edge of the glove box, (2) at the side.
6, Remove the glove box.
7. Remove the glove compartment light and unclip the audio/visual connector by pushing it inwards.
8. Remove sound insulation and side blower air inlet pipe.

You will now see the main blower unit. To remove it from its housing:
1. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
2. Remove (2) bolts near the bottom of the unit.
3. Withdraw the blower module taking care not to damage two plastic 'tabs' at the top.

The main blower on my 2003 Prestigio stopped working in December last year and this also seemed to prevent the side blowers from operating. I removed the main blower, dismantled it and thoroughly cleaned all its connections. I tested the motor on the floor of my car before refitting it and found it worked fine. After refitting it, I found all the blowers and climate control system worked perfectly and is still OK after 4/5 months.

You are a total diamond, that's just the info I needed, I shall attempt said procedure this evening! All being well I shall have a fully functioning Ulysse again :)

Avionista - you are a steely eyed missile man (lady?) - bang on, I now have working air con!! Took it out, didn't even really do anything of significance and bingo - working a treat. If it goes again, I'll know what to do - pretty easy to remove.

Let me know if you are ever in Devon, I owe you a drink :)

Many thanks for this. Was simple like working with lego. I removed the fan (30mins taking care) then put 12V bulb with wires onto the multiplug supplying the fan, engine running, bulb lit up so supply ok. Hooked fan up to battery in my garage and it spun. Cleaned up contacts with spray cleaner and had fan running in foot well. Put all back together and worked no problem: issue was contacts on main blower. Also changed pollen filter after 7 years - was totally blocked up. Easy to do just used a landing net pole to knock off rear clips as can't be reached. When putting back put screws in front first then easy to clip up rear - again with pole.

Many thanks for the advice as it totally sorted me out, Brilliant.

Hi all,
I have purchased Fiat ulysse 2005 diesel and blower not working, checked fan working fine when connected to the battery but I didn't get power to it, where could be a problem, checked fuses looking fine, any ideas?

Thanks
