Hi guys,

Just been out trying to do the front brakes on the Tipo, found one of the sliders on the n/s caliper totally seized into the carrier (That would explain why there was still about 8mm pad left on the left and the rights were down to the metal then!)

Trying to be clever I thought 'right, lets get a 15mm socket on that and give it a bit of stick to free it up'. Anyone who can't guess what happened next probably won't be able to help!

Does anyone have a spare n/s carrier holder for a 95 TD with solid discs? (and at least one slider if poss!) as Fiat's price for it's over £60!

Cheers chaps! (y)

PS Anyone go to Donny South today?

Gord

Cheers Trevor, (y) Having done the other side now, got exactly the same problem - the bottom slider has seized on the drivers side too!! :bang: What would you want for them mate?

Gord

If Trevor doesn't have the goods I have 2 calipers taken from a TD SX. Both working and sliding nicely until removed a couple of days ago. Boots on the piston split on one or both but hasn't caused any problems. Calipers removed for change to vented discs - see vented disc thread - In fact you can see the old calipers there!

If those pin sliders get stuck there is no other way to get them free apart from localised heat and lots of oil.

Hellcat, its just the brackets I'm after - what the sliders themselves go into which hold the pads - what would you want for the pair? My calipers are fine, its just the pair of brackets I need!

Yes of course. The braket which the sliders slot into. For some reason I thought the sliders slotted into the caliper - Despite having taken the brake assembly apart at least 10 times in the last month.

Both are in good shape. The Haynes manual says you must replace the sliding pins if you ever remove them, I think they are in league with the Fiat aftersales department. Wouldn't want much for them, if you could source a Tipo ariel I'd be willing to swap. Decided tipo needed to look smart when meeting with Fast Finger's tipo - put it through the car wash. First and last time. What a waste of 3 quid!

Hellcats car did look nice though, even if it was minus the ariel :p
Looked smart on the alloys, and without the zebadee suspension :D

"Boing" said zebadee :D

If the car decides to be reliable...

or

If you just want it to behave (2 new rear tipo shocks for under 50quid delivered.)

Yep car looks naked without it's aerial. Must say Tipo looks great in red now I have seen one. Black paint and black bumpers and black mirrors.. its just too much black.

*Looks at car.. Looks at spraypaint.. Looks back at car*

No! Should save up for buying a bravo shell to fit all my new parts to. Oh yeah and the house.. And the baby..

I gave it a bit of t-cutting to try and get rid of some of the fading.
Didnt really put much effort in (time restraints ;) ) but id does look better.

Will do it properly when i have more time. (y)

Hellcat, I've sent u a pm with my address and ordered you in an aerial, can u pm me your address and I'll get it sent off to you. Let me know how much the postage is and I'll stick a cheque in or something

Cheers mate (y)

7th September so not very long indeed! I'd paint the car broom yellow if I had other parts looking decent enough. I think the bumper is in desparate need of replacement. It needs re-hanging so replacing with a one that hasn't been butchered would be nice. Need to replace the thin box type section that the bumper/wheel lining/oil cooler hangs from. It rots like nobody's business but its a simple enough shape to get knocked up out of some galvonised steel.
