just out of curiosity really, is it to do with the turbo? one maybe being a FGT and the other being VGT or have fiat just used an uprated map? or something else?

someone across the road from me has just bought a new mJTD and was just wondering how to find out?

EDIT: just had a thought it might be on the V5, but any other comments on what the difference is?

Pretty certain that is the difference.

The 115 JTD had the VGC turbo so I can't see the 120 not having it.

Ok, Stilo diesel line up:

Original JTD
80 = Standard Turbo
115 = 80 engine fitted with intercooler and variable geometry turbine.

mJET JTD
120 = 8v
140 = 16v (also 6speed)

mJET JTD with Variable Inlet Geometry
130 = 8v
150 = 16v (with 6speed)

im fairly sure the 80 and 115 where both 8v engines, Parkers has it listed down as this too (since fiat.co.uk wont have those details anymore)

italiaspeed press has a press release confirming that the 80 and 115 are the same engine too only The difference between them is that the 80 has a turbo or super charger (bloody fiat manual has it listed as TurboSuperCharger) and without an intercooler
while the 115 has that turbo/supercharger and an intercooler with a variable geometry turbine

Can anyone tell me how to tell the difference between the 1.9 Multijet 120 and 150 from the exterior?

Reason I ask is that I do not want to buy one and then find out that it is a 150bhp version, and so insurance group 11, rather than 5.

if you can see through window 6 speed multijet=150bhp(140bhp not sure) 5 speed multijet=120bhp.
if you can get bonnet up oil filler cap is on right for 16v 150bhp(140bhp i would guess) the 8v 120bhp is on the left.
other than those nothing really,i looked at a lot of advertised 120bhp with 6 speed gearboxs wrongly advertised and a few 150bhp with 5 speed wrongly advertised.
badge wise i just had a 'multijet' on boot and a 'sporting' on right front wing which im guessing the 120bhp's would also have.
