Technical URGENT! Drivers door wont open from outside.

Good afternoon, my drivers door handle wont open the door. Could this be a faulty handle or something internal? Thank you

Hi Heather

It might be one of the rods that link the handle to the lock mechanism has failed

Have you had any work done on the car lately?

Do the other doors all 'clonk' when you use the Central Locking?

Only work I have had done is the light bulbs changed..any ideas if would be linked?

Its unlikely..

In your situation ..I would

Try locking and unlocking with the Remote.. any different?

It opens from the inner handle ok..?

If so ..thats likely to be a rod dropping out ( common on the 2 door 500)

Awkward to fix.. door has to be 'taken apart'

All doors are locking fine but just opening the drivers door is impossible.

Is the rod easily fitted back in place or do I need a new one?

Its usually a small plastic clip that breaks.. letting the metal rod dangle :-(

Hi. I was replacing the door hinge. Easy enough, but broke the little white plastic locating clip in the back of the handle mechanism when pushing the link back in (that's the link with the red clip at the other end). Does anyone know where I can get one?

the info was on my last post ;-)

its pretty basic stuff.. but needs the doors inner panel removing for access

around an hours work.. but only @£6 for the clip
