Technical Turn off or reset service indicator

Hello all! Was wondering whether anyone knows how to turn off or reset the service light off a 1.9td 2004 HGT Punto. Thanks

Most garages charge a tenner,proof of service (stamp) done is normally required.

It should be law that the service indicator system can be reset by the home mechanic once the car is out of warranty. A fixed 'service interval' is very inflexible, which leads to some things being done too early, and some too late. The home mechanic can flexibly see to everything at exactly the right time on a rolling-service basis.

Sorry to resurrect a 30 month old thread, but has any procedure come to light for resetting the service indicator on the Punto HGT without specialist tools? I've just noticed that the reset was forgotten on yesterday's service, and if I can avoid having to drive back to the garage that would be good.

Can be done with some cheap cables off Amazon/eBay a laptop and a full copy of fiat ecu scan software, you can get everything you need for under £100 which you can buy in bits don't have to get it all at once and aside from just resetting the service light it can come in useful for a whole host of uses when fault develop
